lookin' for some hot stuff

so, me and gen went to watch swan lake city at the esplanade tonight. i cobbled together a few thoughts while watching the ballet:

1) northern greek boys are cute. at least, as far as i could see from my seat, which was unfortunately at the second circle... so we were at least 50 metres away from the stage. so ok, northern greek ballet dancers are cute from afar. but the one who was dancing to 'sway' (you know, the one that goes 'only you have that magic technique, you make me weak... sway with me! dance with me!' uh, yeah.), woah, he was sexaaay. mmm.

2) i never realised the donna summer's 'hot stuff' could be interpreted into a ballet. well, not that they were really ballet-ing when they were shaking to this song, but still. it made me want to do my own interpretive happy dance too, with broken wings and all.

3) this is the first humourous ballet i've ever been to. all the others (not that i have been to many others) were so deadly serious. this one was funny at parts. really funny (like when they had the swimming competition and the man who was wearing what looked like a golden thong with fluffy leaves won).

4) ballet dancers sport some of the most serious muscle action out there. oh man, i was so jealous of the ballerinas' muscles. wow. double wow. the only things that were flabbing about were their boobs. seriously. (ok, maybe you didn't want to know that)

5) i really liked the two musicians' version of that tragic swan lake waltz piece (so sue me for not knowing the correct title). they rocked it up pretty nicely.

6) i literally cannot sit still when there is music playing. i have to bob my head, shake my arms, tap my feet etc. i try to stop one body part from moving but another will start shebopping involuntarily.

before the ballet started i walked around the place while i was waiting for gen. i never thought i'd say this, but it was beautiful. not the esplanaden guggentagen itself, but the view from the front entrance. the skyscrapers just looked breathtaking against the darkening sky. and looking at the highway from the bridge, wow. it made me think of the people in all those cars crawling along with their lights; people i'll never know and maybe even one or two i do know, but i'll never find out if they were in a car crawling along a highway tonight.
