Dream 1

Aug 26, 2009 20:33

((ooc: Just wanted to mention that Shamisen talks in a deep, baritone voice 8Db. And that this dream is public since Kyon hasn't bothered to figure out the filters yet.))

Well, this was one way to wake up. I have a feeling that while I was asleep, my little sister scooped up our cat Shamisen and just plopped him right on my belly. He wasn't exactly what you call lean so I pretty much felt his entire weight splayed on my stomach. I open an eye blearily, only to be greeted by a cold pink nose touching my own.

"Shamisen... Get off."

The damn cat just yawned into my face (I could smell the cat food he just ate) and stretched, his claws digging in a little into my shirt.

"SHA-MI-SEN!"

"Hmmnnn... in a minute." he drawled, doing another stretch for good measure. "Aren't you getting up now?"

"I would but only if you get off first." I said, shifting so that I was leaning on the headboard of my bed. I thought that would make the cat jump down and run to wherever my little sister was but nope, I didn't have that kind of luck. Shamisen just made himself more comfortable on my lap.

"What do you want? A new toy? More food?"

'... Like you'll ever run out of food to eat.'

"Actually, there's something we need to discuss," he was moving around, kneading his paws on the fabric on my pajama bottoms. I think he was even purring. "How is 'that girl' doing?"

"Haruhi?" I ran a hand through my hair. This again? "Same old, same old. Why?"

"Kyon-kun, you're not exactly 'here'."

"What do you mean 'here'?" 'Ugh. I don't want to have a riveting philosophical discussion this early in the morning.' "I am 'here'. Always have been."

Shamisen finally stopped moving around and sat down, his golden eyes boring down on mine. "You misunderstood me. Do you know what a dream is?"

Suddenly, everything came back to me. I wasn't at home and this wasn't my bed. Not really but it was pretty close.

"I don't think Haruhi's the one who brought me here."

"Oh?"

"I mean, that's a possibility but it looks highly unlikely right now. It's like, there a force out there even bigger than her."

The cat was suddenly silent, licking his paws in a content manner. "Kyon-kun always gets into complicated situations."

Before I could even could counter that, my little sister swings the door open and bounded into my room.

"Kyon-kuuuuuuuuuuuun~~ Did Shami wake you up?"

"Uh, yeah," I said, patting her head, "He did."

She giggled and took the cat away from my lap. "Why was Kyon-kun talking to Shami, then?"

"..."

"Kyon-kun?"

"Because Shami was bored."

"Kyon-kuuunn!" Even if she was a pain sometimes, she looked cute doing that little pout of hers. "You're so silly! Shami can't talk!"

I simply shrugged at her, ruffling her hair a little. "Guess big brother had a crazy dream, huh?"

"Heeeey!" she gave another laugh, dodging my attempts to give her a noogie. "Mom said breakfast's ready."

"All right, all right. Right behind you."

Little sister grinned and trotted out first with Shamisen clinging onto her shoulder.

The boy sat up and groaned. He knew he was going to have a ball answering the questions "Dude, why is your cat talking?" and "Why were you talking back?".

'Just great. Great.'

it always comes back to haruhi, ic, take my sister please, are we being philosophical now?, public, dream, dammit shami
