So I was walking (From around Portage and Main) home from the Fringe Festival (Not done so well this year.) and I stopped at the new McDonalds on Nairn. Completely redone interior and exterior from it's previous pervious form and actually looks rather amazing! (Makes the one on regent look like hell.) The outside has an old McDonald's yellowish style mixed with a new modern look of grey concrete and together are mixed in a great looking style.
The interior how ever just looks so much better. As you walk in and head to the washrooms everything is motion sensor automated but the main problem with motion sensors is quite often they do not sense you, like the sink for an example. As you walk out there are tables all around the edge in a C''''''''''' Shape. At the end was the soft drink and ketchup dispensers. In the middle how ever was a row of tables with a post at either end of the table. But this is the most amazing part of my overdrawn posts. There are about 52" flat screen televisions on each end of the row on the posts. Giving it more of the feeling where you want to take your friends and hang out.
But for every up there are some downs. Behind the counter it is roomy and you can almost seem everything which when you eat food from places like that you just want your food. You dont want too see how it is made. They were out of napkins, (does not matter too much.) but a main problem was their ice dispenser. The ice Chunks that came out of it were just that, Ice chunks. Take ice and shape it into the size of your fist (a really deformed fist at that)
When the ice comes out if it comes out it takes up quite some space of a large cup and the ice machine did get clogged in the end. The major problem (As this being a food industry) was that the whole area was filled with fruit flies. Yes, those little flying insects that love tomatoes and you can never seem to kill. They were swarming everywhere and was quite unsanitary. I briefly told the manager as I was leaving with my large Coca Cola and a large fries. (Hold the ketchup flies please.)
