A hot bath, laced with grapefruit oil, the whole house lit with candles… cranberry concentrate in white tea-pomegranite soda in a frozen cup

Making dolmas with fresh dill tonight, sitting cross-legged on the carpet to stuff the grape leaves after the sumptuous stuffing is made. Carlos finally getting bored with the process and curling up in his carpet tree to sleep. Phone call just to say hello from eldest daughter...who has an interesting interview tomorrow. Genteel to talk just to hang out a few minutes. The fragrance of ease. Calling an old friend just because I was thinking of her while I wrapped dolmas and how delightful to hear good news and accounts of happiness where things were so shaky before. A bit of Blackstone Pinot Noir which makes it feel more like the weekend than a work night, but takes the edge of the field trip bus ride with hyper third graders to the park and planetarium. The bits and piles of papers and unattended mail clutter the studio but I really do not care. I think I should pack my suitcase so that I am ready to roll over the hill for salsa rueda after reading club after school tomorrow. The dolmas are a home-cooking gift to the staff for TGIF. I might even read my hand-written journal and add some thoughts. It has been weeks since I've written. Smiling to think of my 30 years old daughter announcing she is growing up. How elegant and earthy at the same time are steamed greens and plain yogurt. Love you - Mom
