I feel like these past couple days have just been so crazy.
Monday was one of those Mondays where little things kept on going wrong all day.
Tuesday was worse. My photo shoot for Advanced Studio Lighting didn't go so well. My concept was really not refined and nothing I could do could make my still life look better. So these past 24 hours, I've been planning for my photo shoot on Friday. For this class, we have to shoot on 4x5 film (the negative itself is four inches by five inches!). Thankfully, I could tell from my Polaroid that my concept was really bad and amaturish at best.
In between classes, I've been inhaling food in world record times (and giving myself mild stomach aches) and doing stupid assignments for my painting class. I take more time eating than I do bullshiting a written assignment for Basic Painting.
I did have a good thing happen on Tuesday that totally made my day better. I ran into a student from Midlothian that I taught when I did service learning last semester. Toni is incredibly bright-eyed and excited with her art projects. Even though she looked exhausted, she seemed to really enjoy VCU. I think she didn't recognize me at first because I always dressed nicely (button up shirt and slacks) whenever I went to Midlothian High School. When we ran into each other on the sidewalk, I was wearing Dan's pants (which are my painting pants), a 3 foot x 4 foot canvas, a bag of art materials, and a bag with a sub, soda, and cookie combo from Stuffy's. Certainly very casual than how she usually saw me, but I still kept my professionalism but friendly attitude. Toni totally made my day a litlte bit better, especially because I was going to my least favorite class.
Heroes was AWESOME on Monday night! I've been talking to so many people about the show, like Tom (who taught my senior portfolio class), a couple people in my ARTE408 class, and two people that I met on an airplane from Puerto Rico (they recently got in contact with me via Facebook a couple days ago). And yes, I finally saw that Star Wars Family Guy episode. O. M. G. Too funny!
My photo shoots with Amanda are going really well. At least the stuff for Advanced Digital Printing. We haven't really worked on the other photo shoots that she would like to do. I've got other photo shoots to do for Lo, promotional photography for Sacrosanct, and everything else it seems.
Dan's coming down this weekend. We are going to see Henry Rollins at the Canal Club, (hopefully) get some sushi at Sumosan on Saturday. Sunday is Brandon's BBQ. Dan will be in Richmond on Monday and Tuesday to look around for jobs in Richmond.
So I guess I should do some work so I can spend as much time with Dan as possible. I don't want a repeat of Dan's last visit.
