God, life is sweet.
Friday:
4:30 pm EST: Peggy informs that I'm working downstairs, alone, with only 28 people to take care of. The other guys are upstairs with upwards of two hundred, and making $2.50 less than me.
6:00 pm EST: I get bored and wander off. John and I sneak into the shop and make a bumper sticker that says "I <3 Hogan" and affix it to the back of Paul's jeep.
8:00 pm EST: Still having done no work, I go visit Gina and then teach the Gilligan's Island theme to Kathy, followed by The Candyman Can to J.T.
10:30 pm EST: At this point for the most part I am done. I visit Gina again, we joke around for awhile. There is an awkward silence, and then suddenly she sporadically jots down her number and hands it to me.
11:30 pm EST: I punch out having made twice as much money as the other guys and sixty dollars in tips.
11:45 pm EST: I come home and hear a hurried bumping from upstairs. I proceed up and find my brother pretending to sleep. He has attempted unsuccessfully to shut the computer down, but I open the screen to find 52 porno pop ups parading across my monitor. Now the popups have me. Fucker.
SATURDAY-
9:00 am EST: I show up back at work.
10:00 am EST: My work for the day is done. I'm still on the clock.
10:30 am EST: I ambush Paul and the two of us wrestle to the ground, he literally grabs me by the torso and hurls me across the promenade.
11:00 am EST: John finds some old sheetmetal rods padded with cardboard. Holding one like a samurai warrior, he charges me, and I hip check him into a box of broken glass. I grab another rod and we spend the rest of the day fencing through the commissary.
11:45 am EST: I am covered in bruises and my elbow ceases to function. John has limped the the infirmary nursing a bleeding calf. I punch out and call Matt.
Now I sit here, waiting to go chill with Matt and Mj at one. Funny how every time a circle of friends dissipates, another grows stronger. Erin goes nuts and James stabs me in the back, and Kat and Kayla grows distant, but at the same time my bond with Steph and Chris grows stronger, Matt and Mj become close friends, and I start getting along with the crew at work.
Also I finally answered the question everyone, including myself, has asked at some point: does Ande know how to fight? The answer: Yes, very well in fact. Jon and I in the commissary looked like something out of a Robin Hood movie, we drew a crowd (our job is such a joke), and Paul, who weighs 400 lbs easily, said himself that my reaction time was uncanny. Unfortunately, I lack the will to hurt anyone, so as I let Paul go and roll away laughing, he grabs me by the throat and bashes me into a wall.
But anyway, despite being sore, I am in a really good mood, and, what can I say, things are looking up.
Peace, Love, Empathy,
/Ande
