Naruto - Chapter 483

Have just read Naruto, Chapter 483.

Some thoughts and musings about it (hidden under LJ cut for spoilers):

Although I guess we could see it coming, I'm really sad at the turn that Kishimoto has given Sasuke. A few chapters ago, Sasuke sacrificed Karin, and now in Ch. 483 he's tried to kill Sakura. Sakura.

No one (except Kishimoto) knows what's coming next, but to me, Sasuke is almost beyond redemption at this point. "Redemption" is one of the themes of Naruto, so never say never, but up to this point I thought Sasuke could be turned around. I'm seriously doubting that now.

I also feel that maybe Naruto - the manga - the story itself - may be reaching its conclusion soon. Naruto, of course, is an enormous cash cow for everyone involved in its production both in Japan and in the U.S., so it's possible Kishimoto might be pressured into dragging it out for a while longer. But it feels like it's ending to me.
