This is a plausible character sketch of the events that formed Severus, and the harshness of his upbringing is happily contrasted to some degree by the idea of his "fairy godmother," as I quickly came to think of her (though I will not spoil anyone). Any friendship paid to Severus is quite welcome, indeed!

The backstory of this is slightly different from others I've read, but, IMO, probably a more plausible history. Very imaginative, MA.

Really well done! Very believable -- though very sad! -- explanations of the manner in which important aspects of Severus's character are a direct result of experiences in his childhood ("As the twig is bent, so is the tree inclined..."). I love the idea of Minerva anonymously protecting and helping him through the hidden chest :)
