This line tickles me; it's so very Severus to my way of thinking.
Oh, my! This fic! It did not turn out at all the way you thought it would when you first described it to me, did it? I don't care, though, because I like what you do, here. I like being dropped into a situation that is about to resolve, no matter how messily, complicatedly, or thoughtlessly. I like that Eileen has changed, or is trying to change, and Severus for his realization that he can't. His solution interests me. I could read more about it . . . .

I love it that Eileen still lives and manages to build a new life for herself. That she and Severus get to talk in a meaningful way.... this opens up the possibility for Severus to take a different path, but he does not: very moving - he needs a completely fresh new start, as sad as that is!
Oh my - Severus seeking to forget everything, doing it in his mother's house and Eileen not stopping her, their relationship and what we learn of Tobias, their complex family relationship... it's a gut-punch of a fic, really! (and now i wonder what happens next for Severus, how much he's forgotten, what new life awaits him ;-)
Damn, that was intense. Poor Severus, thinking his only option was to forget all. I can't blame him. Hopefully, his new life will be better. Ugh, this was heartbreaking. Well done.

As Severus does not trust, he must help himself.
Oh, Severus! It's sad that he has come to this as his only way forward. Although having Eileen there, and not stopping him, makes it more fraught.
