Severus had always been very careful to hide it whenever Potter had trespassed upon the sanctity of his office. And Severus was extremely grateful, having seen just how nosy the blasted brat was, that he had. Every bit like his father. Every goddamn bloody bit!
Sinking dejectedly into his wingback chair, Severus stared listlessly at the broken glass and beetle eyes spread across the floor. He’d broken more than just that jar. He’d broken his promise. Opening the top drawer on his desk, Severus removed a tarnished silver frame.
“I’m sorry, Lily,” Severus addressed the photo. “I’ve failed you. Again.”
