want to learn to spin fire?
my former housemate and friend belva stone is teaching an intro to fire spinning workshop. her students love her-- and you will too. hit me up if you want her info. here's the listing:

Aaaahhhhhhh The Playa. The feel of playa dust covering every inch of your body and loving it! The heat, the freedom and the roar of fire spinning around the body. Mmmmmm. It's the night of the Burn and from the sidelines we watch as hundreds of fire dancers are spinning to their hearts content as the Man is slowly but surely being set afire! To spin fire on the hard cracked ground of the playa is one of the most freeing experiences to be had. Heck spinning fire alone is amazing but to do it in the middle of BRC is even more enchanting and empowering! Even if your not going to the desert this year spinning poi is the right thing to do I dare say. Great exercise, lowers blood pressure/stress level and it just looks cool!
Mystress Fyre, Belva Stone, is holding one last class in San Francisco before she heads to her homeland of Canada. In this 4 week class of 2 nights a week you'll learn how to spin poi and have the opportunity to spin fire on the last class before heading out to the desert! Learn all the basics; Butterfly, Low wave, Weave, Fountain, Around the World and so much more! Belva teaches with her own hand crafted practice poi (bean bags with four foot tails which are yours to keep!) to ensure that your ready when the night comes to spin fire!
Mystress Fyre has been teaching poi for 5 years. She created the Fire Dance Program at the Crucible in 2003 and retired to attend Dell'Arte Physical Theatre School in Humboldt County for the last year. Her high energy and positive teaching style is bound to please everyone as she teaches through laughter and light!
WHEN? Tuesday August 2nd thru the Thursday August 25th.
Every Tues and Thurs night 8-10pm
