please resume writing, now.

Ok. So since I've gotten the comment "I felt closer to you when you were in Europe and I could read your journal everyday" from both my mother and my brother,I've decided to revive this old travel journal and turn it into a what-I-do-everyday-that-I-want-my-brother-and-my-mother-to-know journals. That being said, there will probably be a lot of overlap between this journal and my other journal, though this one will probably be better written. I will not be offended if you drop me from your friends list.

So. My knee is under attack. But anyway. This past Thursday I found myself getting on an Amtrak after getting far too little sleep the night before, as is my usual pre-boarding routine. My destination was Portland, Oregon, current home of my mom, dog, and cat. My brother was going to be present at varying intervals during the weekend as well, which is the real reason why I made the trek.

The ride down was uneventful, as usual, but beautiful. When I first started riding Amtrak regularly 2 years ago the train almost always arrived late for various reasons. Usually a car in the tracks, or one time, a small child playing in front of the train. Now nothing exciting happens. The train just follows the tracks and stops at each stop.

Upon my arrival into my mother's home I was at once refreshed with a bowl a homemade vegan soup. An hour or so later I found myself famished again and began eating the chips and salsa we had gotten for burritos. I managed to eat almost the entire bag that night.

The next day I woke up early for having gotten so little sleep the past week (11:30...normally my first day of allowed continuous sleep finds me sleeping 11 to 12 hours and not a meager 8 or 9). I managed to be productive, something I seldom am at my mother's. I did laundry, I folded laundry, I ate some breakfast, I read. I did, of course, have my moments of internet addiction.

My long lost friend James (well, he's not really long lost, I just barely ever see him) called and he came over. We made burrito mix (well, I made it, and I told him to cut up garlic and squish avocados) and ate, and chatted, and waited for my brother and his girlfriend to show up.

They showed up around 11pm, and we ate some more, and chatted some more, but I mostly just listened. Everyone wanted to hear my Europe stories, and I felt like I didn't have any. Anything mildly interesting was written on here...and I didn't think any part of my trip had been all that interesting anyway.

Today, after taking a long nap, I picked up the borrowed copy of Al Burien's 'Burn Collector'. It is quickly becoming a favorite read for me.

Tonight we will all trek to OMSI to look at Mars through a telescope.
