When I first encountered the internet (years after it had become the phenomenon it was) I was fascinated with the overwhelming vastness of it.
Here at last was the ultimate repository of mankind's collective consciousness, the answer's to any question you might have seemed only a only a few keystrokes away.
I remember surfing (as the phrase was then more accurately used) for hours upon hours, jumping from one random inquiry to every branching thought that resonated with it.
So what's changed since then?
I may still spend a few hours on my computer "surfing" the net, but I could sum up my web browser history in 5 or 6 pages total for the last year.
Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Penny Arcade, G4, and AOL home page make up about 90% of my online time.
So my question is, "Did the internet change or did I?"
