He will gain a small improvement in his eyesight, though the substantial shifts will be in smell and sensitivities to minute changes in heat and vibration. His reflexes will also become inhuman in speed. While it's assumed that because of his snake-charmer status in the circus that he's built up an immunity to the venom of snakes, once in Siren's Port, he will become completely unaffected by all snake venoms and serums derived from them. Along with these more useful traits, he will also become immensely fascinated with birds and rodents, with a distinct, predatory desire to eat them. His susceptibility to changes in temperature will increase to the level of a cold-blooded animal. To go along with his imperviousness to venom, his saliva with gain its own low level of toxicity with attributes from two broad-spectrum types of venom, neurotoxins and cytotoxins.
Weapons: Snake brings with him Oscar, Wilde, Emily, Bronte, Keats, Wordsworth, Webster, and Goethe, all of whom are poisonous snakes.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Snake's introduction into the series is one of a minor character during the Noah's Ark Circus story arc. Joker, the leader of the circus troupe, leads Ciel and Sebastian through the circus looking for the doctor who has made the prothetic limbs that are the signature of the original members of the circus. Snake is the one that Joker goes to for this information, and is told by one of his snakes in the form of a tail wag that the doctor is out. Snake himself is silent during this first appearance, and set as being a slightly intimidating character. There is little interaction with him until later on, when Sebastian attempts to sneak around the fairgrounds, and is promptly stopped by Snake before he can reach the tents of the doctor and the more important members. This is also the first time that Snake is seen speaking, and the oddities of his speech patterns come out. He translates between the snakes and the person they're talking to, but doesn't speak for himself often. Without hesitation, he directs Sebastian to the exit of the fairgrounds. He's spoken of later by Joker after Ciel (under the alias of Smile) and Sebastian (under the alias of Black) join the circus, explaining that Snake's tent is the one full of poisonous snakes and guards the entrance to the other private tents of the first-tier members. Joker also explains that Snake is not an original member of the circus, as the first-tiers are made up of people who are childhood friends. Snake attained his first-tier member status with his snake charming skills, at least superficially.

Snake appears again when Doll shields the fact that Ciel is creeping around a forbidden area of the circus by snatching up a snake that had been scouting and distracting the others with it. There is a brief moment where Snake is reprimanded for letting his snakes wander, and he speaks for himself for the first time, apologizing in a very odd way: "I'm sorry for my carelessness that could have sent you to the next world". The distraction works long enough for Ciel to get away, but Snake relays the information from the snake who was caught. Peter expresses doubt and is harsh with Snake, though it's met with a calm demeanor. Once Smile and Black disappear, and the others suspect that they are agents of Scotland Yard, they rest of the original members leave to investigate the manor of the Earl. They leave Snake behind to take care of things, as he's not directly involved with what has been revealed to be happening. Once again, Peter speaks rather meanly to Snake, and is blatantly ignored this time. Another one of the snakes, named Emily, speaks out to Dagger, giving him wishes of good luck and (with a little reluctance from Snake) a few flirty comments.

The circus arc comes to an end with the slaughter of the original members, in which Snake is left with the crumbling circus itself. Two of the snakes, Oscar and Emily, both comment on the disappearance of the others, that they can't be detected and that they promised to be back by morning. Snake is seen shivering intensely here, and is bundled up far more than anyone else around. When other people begin whispering of replacements, Snake turns and, with a look back at the circus, leaves. This is also the second time that he is seen speaking for himself, saying "It's lonely being by yourself."

There is an extended gap in his canon appearance, between chapters 36 and 50, at the end of the Manor Murders arc. While Sebastian has previously explained the culprit for all other murders that took place in the house to be Charles Gray, there is one that had not been fully unravelled. When Ciel questions this, Sebastian pulls out a chained crate from beneath the table (because he's just like that). When the crate is opened on command, a pair of snakes launch themselves from the crate to attack Ciel. Sebastian comments that they seem rather resentful toward the young Earl. Obviously, Snake is the one trapped in the crate, and the one who killed Patrick Phelps. Sebastian recounts when, after disregarding Phelps who was dying from snake venom, he ended the manor greenhouse and was ambushed by Snake. Although bitten, Sebastian doesn't die, and Webster (another snake) demands an explanation. The details of their impending struggle are not defined.

With Snake successfully restrained, he explains just why it is that he's in the manor. He suspects that the disappearance of Joker and the other original members of the circus is the fault of "Smile" and "Black". This notion is supported by the fact that the day after Smile and Black snuck into the member's tents, they all disappeared. Wilde speaks out, blaming Ciel. Oscar explains that they followed Ciel back to his house from the smell on his clothing.

There is a flashback of when Snake arrived at the townhouse in London. Oscar comments on the strength of the smell nearby, but before they can investigate further, they are caught by Soma and Agni. When Snake asks if there is "a little boy and a black-clad man" at the estate, Agni jumps at the chance to expose Ciel and Sebastian's names, though he makes an effort to ask for Snake's business with them before leading him further. Soma, as usual, interrupts is the loudest way possible. Assuming that Snake is a guest of Ciel's, and not at all thinking through that he could be an enemy, Soma sends Snake off in "the fastest horse carriage we have" to take him to the mansion. Snake is then whisked away and given gifts along with the ride, and thus leaves. Once close to the manor, he leaves the carriage and hides in the bushes nearby. Keats notes that there seems to be a dinner party going on, as the guests are beginning to arrive. Despite the idea of staying in the bushes until nightfall, the lure of the warm greenhouse is a little too much for the snake-charmer and his group to withstand.

Back in the present, Ciel ignores the fact that Soma led an assassin to him and inquires for a further explanation of why Snake thinks they are the ones responsible for the troupe's disappearance. Snake is overtaken with emotion, though Wordsworth is the one to shout. He barks at the young Earl that he noticed the others acting weird when the pair came in disguise as new members, and that he knows they were hiding something from him. There's a scene of the troupe members releasing Snake from a "snakeman" freak show cage in a different circus as he recalls, "Despite my appearance, those guys called me their friend. They called me their family." Wilde erupts in rage, pledging that he will never forgive Ciel for what he's taken away.

Ciel counters this rage by explaining the truth of what happened in the circus. That they were kidnapping children from the towns they visited in their travels, and that himself and Sebastian had infiltrated in order to find evidence of this. Snake is caught off-guard with this accusation and Oscar speaks out harshly against it. The Earl begins his manipulation of the truth as he explains to Snake that their identity was found out before the evidence they needed could be obtained, and that the group of original members disappeared after that. He continues on in remorse for ending Snake's happiness, rationalizing that he was looking for the safety of the children that had been taken. He then, reaching out to Snake, admits that he wants to save him as well, as he unbinds him. Wilde raises Snake's voice in suspicion and rear for an attack. Ciel orders Sebastian to stay back, and steps forward in continuation, offering for Snake to join him at his mansion. In shock and fear, Snake recoils back, his confusion voiced through Keats. With a sweet smile, Ciel explains that yes, he does want to save Snake, that it would make sense to stay at the manor in order to wait for them to return. He continues on with how he knows that the people of the circus are not bad, and deserve to be happy, Snake included. Snake is pulled in by the Earl's words, and accepts.

Soon enough, Snake is introduced into the household as the new servant. Understandably, Snake is nervous, and the other three are shocked (mostly because of the invasion of snakes, except for Finny). There is a humorous little exchange made by the confusion of Snake speaking for the snakes more often than himself. Finny and Mei-rin take to Snake quickly, admiring the few abilities he has, though Bard is suspicious. Sebastian reassures Bard that it's nothing to be worried about, and commends Snake on his aptitude to Ciel.

Point in Canon: In the middle of chapter 51. Lured in by Ciel's clever lies, Snake agrees to become a part of the Phantomhive mansion's staff, and is formally introduced into the household. But before he joins Sebastian and Ciel on the luxury liner as another bodyguard.

Character Personality: There are a few shifts that take place in Snake's character through the progression of the series. This expresses his reserved and quiet nature, as well as his aversion to new experiences and people. His appearance is a source of uneasiness, as people do not take well to those who are different. The flashback of him in the circus before the Noah's Ark confirms that before joining them, he had a very rough and isolated life. This would attribute to his lack of social skills and general distrust that comes later on in the series. More often than not, he speaks for his snakes, rather than voicing his own thoughts. There are a few who have more distinct personalities, such as Emily, who flirts with Dagger. Wordsworth and Oscar are the two who speak the most, and the former has a bit of a temper. Webster's speech is very formal. All of the snakes are extremely protective of Snake and do nothing that could harm people without his permission.

His exterior demeanor is one cold and aloof, even to the other members of the circus whom he refers to as his friends and family. This is all that is seen of him until the end of the circus arc. He has a fierce gaze and a strong duty to protecting the members of the circus. His expressions are almost consistently stoic, save for a few timid gazes and one hesitant look (in response to voicing Emily's flirting with Dagger). Together with this reptilian coldness of person and the countless poisonous snakes he commands, he has a very intimidating air. He is strong to criticism, as he is accosted not once but twice by Peter, and meets the attacks with graceful, dismissing answers, or ignoring the source completely. This is also a fruit of his life as a freak show, as there is hardly a positive reaction from the spectators. Despite his role of a first-tier member in the circus arc, he knows nothing of what is going on behind the scenes with the Baron who patrons the circus and rescued the original members. He's purposely kept out of the loop, as they wait to discuss anything of that matter until after he is out of earshot. As he is the one left behind when the rest of the troupe goes off to combat Ciel and his household, it's obvious that he is a trusted friend, despite everything. Snake knows about this exclusion, but accepts it because of the camaraderie, because of their acceptance of him. There is a distaste for being alone that Snake expresses with his final line of the arc, and by the extreme measures he takes to find Joker and the others. They are important to him, and he does not let them go easily. His quiet speech is broken in exchange for enraged shouting in desperation and anger toward Ciel when he accuses the earl of being at fault for the missing troupe. Even once he joins the Phantomhive house, it is under the assumption that doing so will bring him a step closer to finding the others.

Snake is very distrusting of people outside of his circle, assuming that they automatically think negatively of him. When Ciel extends his hand to Snake in an offering of acceptance into his house, Snake's automatic reaction is to back away and is overcome with confusion. This reaction is followed by an attack reflex that isn't followed through out of a small hope that the things the earl is saying are not lies. The newness of this emotion being displayed to him by individuals other than the people within the circus flabbergasts him. However, there's a strong desire for being welcomed despite his appearance, and he succumbs to the gentle feelings with a shocking and probably unhealthy ease. With this shift in his lifestyle, a new side of Snake is shown: something awkward but desperate to please. He has only ever lived in a circus, so the adjustment to life in the manor is something that makes him beyond uncomfortable. He becomes timid and stuttering in his new surrounding, because of all the new experiences he's going through. There are people around that he is forced to trust, and that adds to his already blatant nervousness. Sebastian comments that Snake is a fast learner, and he is good in the kitchen as, within the circus, the newcomers are responsible for meals. While he does not shy away from the new duties given to him, there is a hesitance to begin, before he delves in with everything he has. Affection and caring are things foreign to him, and fill him with surprise each and every time they're shown. Ciel, Sebastian, and the other servants instant positive reception of him fluster him to no end, as it is something he's not used to. However, he doesn't lash out or reject the warmth, but rather, like a snake, curls up and settles into it with a flush, a smile, and sometimes hints of tears. If he's not immediately being useful or needed, though, Snake tends to slink off into a corner by himself. Despite his initial suspicions of Ciel and his aversion to new people, Snake is fiercely devoted to the young Earl, protecting him as he had the circus, and seeking his approval wherever he can.

Character Plans: Nothing major for right now. After arriving, he'll do his best to relieve some of the housework stress from Gilbert and possibly join the circus in order to provide some source of income.

'I-Is it on?' asks Emily. 'I do not believe so.' says Webster. [There's no video, but it's in the works. There's the sound of rustling, a 'hmm' of contemplation.] 'Just forget about it. If he can hear that's good enough, Snake.' says Wordsworth. … But…

[Oh, there it is. There's a wonderful view of a very pretty banana snake's head as it rears back away from the camera, burrowing under the scarf that is wound over and over around the neck of a young man. His green eyes are smiling, his mouth probably is too, but it's hidden. Even with the extra layers he's wearing, he's still shivering slightly. Another snake, almost black, peeks its head out from the collar of his coat, eyeing the screen.] 'Go ahead, Snake! Just say it!' says Wordsworth. … Um… o-ok…

I-I made it work, Young Master. A-And… I.

I made tea… [A blush. He's proud of himself.]

The sun was just barely peeking over the horizon when Snake rose from the hot water of his bath, his skin a brilliant flushed tone. He'd been soaking for just over an hour, together with the long slender bodies of his friends around him. It was what he had to do in the morning during the winter, to wake up from the sleep that threatened to keep him unconscious until spring. But that wasn't an option. Just like in the circus, there were things that needed tending to. A butler's day begins early… Yes, that's what Sebastian had always said. He'd said that everything had to be done with the utmost care, to the specific needs of the master, with consideration for nothing else. The young master was most important. The unfamiliar clothing was drawn on over his body, the shirt buttoned up to his neck, tighter than what he was used to. His arms slid into the sleeves of the tailcoat as he turned to look at himself in a full-length mirror. These clothes hid a lot of his scales, but… not completely. White gloves were pulled on, leaving his face the only thing exposed. A frown was given, a small knot in his stomach forming as he glanced at the door of his living quarters. It was the same sort of nervousness he got before a show. No, this isn't the same thing. The young master… invited me here. Again. But there were other people here, ones he didn't know from where he came.

With his shoulders as straight as he could manage, he left his room and started through the sleeping house toward the kitchen. Sebastian wasn't around, so there was no room for failure. The weight of Emily and Oscar around his neck was comforting; they were like him. People screamed at the sight of snakes, they ran from them, they killed them without second thought. Snakes were seen as evil by so many people, for so many reasons. And Snake understood the pain they felt. A gloved hand reached up to stroke the top of Oscar's head as Emily threaded herself up the back of his head, through his hair like warm grass, to lounge at the top of his head. When he arrived at the kitchen, Snake stopped immediately at the threshold, another sharp sensation of anxiety gripping him. Slowly, he pushed on the door, letting it crack open as he peeked inside. There wasn't much that he could see from that angle, but there were no sounds of movement, no smells. Safe.

Edging the door open further, he slipped through the gap as soon as it was just barely wide enough for him to fit. The door was shut and a heavy sigh was heard before he turned, gazing around the expansive kitchen, all kept meticulously clean. The appliances all gleamed with this modern silver plating, humming with power from the electrical outlet. Nothing looked familiar, but then again, not much had looked so in the Phantomhive mansion from before. His thoughts were interrupted by the hissing voice from around his neck.

"… 'What now' asks Oscar…" A silence followed before a burning was felt in the corners of Snake's eyes. A heat rushed to his face, up to the tips of his ears as he stood timidly inside the enormous room. A whimper was heard before he answered. "I-I don't know…"
