Anime Expo Eve
It's time for another Anime Expo. I think this is actually going to be my sixth year attending. Maybe seventh. I try not to get excited about the convention, but the truth is, it has continually proven to be the catalyst for the rest of the year.
I haven't realized until just a few minutes ago while lying in bed how much Anime Expo has changed my life. Whether from winning a competition or forging and strengthening friendships, things always seem to change after the convention~
Gosh. I can't even begin to describe the emotions I experienced during my first Anime Expo. Katy and I were exploring for the first time, and I remember being amazed when I caught a glimpse of my first cosplayer. We were both in heaven. We spent that entire Expo in the dealers booth. We won ALOT of stuff, and even though we were confined to that one area, I had such a blast!
The next couple of years after that we added a few new friends to our group and discovered there was much more to the convention than just shopping. I tried my hand at some cosplaying (my first being Dejiko) and that added a whole new level to my fun.
Things were a little rough during con time after I started going with my first boyfriend. I found I could no longer hang with a group of friends anymore because they never really got along with him. I did hang out with as often as I could during the con, but things did feel a little weird at times.
Now I am with an (almost) completely new group of friends and I'll be staying in a hotel for the first time. Oh! And here's another first: I'll be signing autographs. Strange, huh? I'm a bit nervous to see what this year has in store. Last year's expo was amazing though, and I can only hope each day we're there will be just as fun!
I guess this was basically a pointless rant. A bit cheesy as well. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I can basically track my teenage years through AX~ Even though I miss my old friends, I'm so excited and happy to have met such wonderful and fun people and I can't wait to share the next 5 days of nerd-dom at its finest with them. :)
