We all make mistakes as pet parents, sometimes. If I haven't told you about the cat's adventure outdoors, I shall have to sometime. He wasn't happy. So, don't be too hard on yourself. They're all inside safe and sound again. Hopefully the weather will improve so they can be outdoors again!

It really hasn't been suitable weather for turfing out pets. Yesterday was the first decent day here (apart from rather strong winds) and I've been cooped up in my "hutch" for months. So I went for a 6 mile walk in the morning (timing how far away various things were) and then made the 2 mile round trip to the supermarket in the afternoon (when it was finally warm enough to go without a coat).

Have you checked Bunty's mother's pond for spawn yet?

Some of my indoor tadpoles are quite good at swimming now (and look like tadpoles rather than black ribbons).

Hee, it's overflowing with spawn, apparently, and her garden's so full of frogs that it's hard to know where to tread. She offered to bring me some spawn over to play with, but once the tadpoles become frogs, I don't have anywhere to release them. Pity.

Can you not dig a small pond in your garden - even one that's essentially just a bucket or large bowl embedded in the ground? I know someone who had a pond that size and still had frogs voluntarily using it for their spawn!

I do have some containers of water and pond animals in the garden, but because we're renting, we can't add a real pond; so when we leave, the frogs would have nowhere to spawn. Although...

I've just remembered that the field across the lane has an almost permanent floody patch...

I just watched Flushed Away - and it had lots of slimeys in it, singing most of the songs! On the down side, they made the toad(s) and frogs into the baddies.
