I've always been a bit jealous of some retail workers, more specifically certain aspects of the job. The major one, the perk that most retail workers I know get, is the perk of employee discount. Why would I be jealous of such a thing? Well, I have a bit of a shopping habit, and the items I love best (books and video games) are dang expensive. I've contemplated trading the library gig for a spot in a book or video store, but few opportunities have presented themselves. At a recent staff event, however, I was introduced to the library's employee discount - ordering books through the library's supplier*. The discount depends on the material, but I just collected an order of books valued at 115 dollars for a mere 67. :3

This puts to rest the idea of changing jobs.

*Limited to books, audio books, and some movies/cds. Turnover time can be slow (my order took about two weeks).

In other news! I'm getting a lot more hours at work, which is awesome. Some weeks I get barely 12 hours (being part time is amazing, no?), but this past month? I've been averaging 30 hours! My paychecks are so sexy right now. So I celebrated and bought a new winter coat, since my old one was a fall-weight trench from Old Navy 5 years ago. Heh. I carried heavy backpacks over it, wore it constantly, wore it stretched over multiple hoodies for warmth, wore it even when I gained weight and it was a bit too small... I've had to repair the lining and shoulder seams a couple times now! So definitely time to invest in a new coat.

And invest I did. Behold!:

On sale for 99 bucks. That is awesome for a knee-length (on me, even though it's from the petite section!) wool coat. Guys, I love it so.

...because of my massive spending I've been reduced to forgoing my normal "I'm hungry let's order pizza!" ways. Woe. :p

How is everyone! Are you too being ridiculous spendthrifts?
