Guess where I was last night. The show at HP Pavillion was freakin' spectacular. In the show there are fireworks, explosions, fire blasts, dancers and acrobats. She is lifted up on a 20 foot hydraulic pole, in heels. Think Cher farewell concert. Oh the high heels. One of the backup singers wiped out on stage walking down steps. The show was a cross section of her singing career. The costumes were awesome and sometimes hilarious. Of course she did several songs wearing the requisite shimmy skirts, hot pants and come hither heels, and still looks amazing in them at age 68.
Highlights of the show are many. Tina reprises the role of Acid Queen from the movie Tommy. She comes out of a sarcophagus (or iron maiden?) singing. Later during a costume change all these grungy looking acrobats start doing parkour off the stage sets and I'm like WTF? Then she bursts out dressed as Auntie from Beyond Thunderdome. And she still belts out the songs as loud and ranged as ever. She sang Goldeneye with the dancers doing a James Bond 007 montage. There was of course Proud Mary and she was dancing, singing, shaking and sweating it with lots of energy. Meanwhile the stage transforms from flat into flaming ramps into staircases for the dancers. For the finale the front stage becomes a rotating narrow walkway boom that projects halfway out over the floor seating and she is running back and forth and dancing on this thing with NO HANDRAIL (and no wires) in high heels! And she looked at me when it came close because I was acting like a big fool, heh. The concert was two and a half hours of hotness.
People, this was the coolest concert I have ever seen.
