ATTENTION, PURGATORY.

Some of you may not have noticed, but we appear to have a water problem. Now, you might not realize it, but this water could be very dangerous if you are not careful. Try to remain calm.

Here is a list of some of the potential dangers of this water:

*Immersion Hypothermia! This water came from the snow melting. This means that it is very cold. Submerging yourself in this water without adequate protective gear is bad idea. There are three stages of Hypothermia. In Stage One, body temperature drops 1-2 degrees Celsius (1.8-3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Signs include: mild-strong shivering, numbing of the hands, sickness to the stomach, tiredness, and shallow breathing. If a person begins to feel a warming sensation and/or becomes unable to touch their littlest finger to their thumb, that means the are heading into Stage Two, which is when the blood vessels contract to protect the vital organs. Signs include: more violent shivering, loss of coordination, mild confusing, labored movements, pallor, and a blue tint to lips, fingers, toes, and ears. Then comes Stage Three, where the temperature drops even further. Shivering now stops, the person will have difficulty speaking, sluggish thinking, irrational behavior, exposed skin will turn blueish and puffy, walking becomes almost if not completely impossible. Pulse and respiration rates decrease , but fast heart rates can occur, along with major organ failure. This will lead to clinical death. HOWEVER, because of the decreased cellular activity that hypothermia brings about, brain death takes much longer to occur. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WHO APPEARS TO BE SUFFERING FROM THIS, GET THEM TO WARMTH IMMEDIATELY. The best ways to treat hypothermia are through transferal of body heat and the ingestion of warm liquids. Remember! Blankets to not warm a person, they help contain the warmth a person emits! Therefore, blankets are not a proper treatment for hypothermia.

*Water Pollution! This water is not safe to drink! It used to be snow, it was sitting on the ground, amidst all the dirt and animal excrement. There are a number of organisms that live in stagnant water that are dangerous for human consumption! I advise to to boil your water before drinking it at the very least. It is my suggestion that we set up some way to filter water.

*Mudslides! Flooding also comes hand in hand with mudslides, as everything is melting. So far I have no seen evidence of this, but if anyone comes across any, they should report it immediately.

*Strong Currents/Flash Floods! This applies mostly to the river. As it overflows it's banks, the current will gain strength. It will be very dangerous to stray to close to the river until the water levels have lowered.

*Water Damage! Buildings can get washed out, and the wood can rot and become unstable. It is quite possible that several of the wooden buildings might entirely collapse. I suggest that those of your who are in wooden residence evacuate and seek other shelter.

Thank you for your time. If you can think of anything else to add to this list, feel free to mention it here.

lets try science you guys
