I WAS SHRIEKING AT MY SCREEN MERE MINUTES AGO, AS I VIEWED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME. I CANNOT BELIEVE NO ONE HAS TOLD ME ABOUT THIS SOONER. I FEEL LIKE WHO EVEN CARES IF THE APOCALYPSE COMES, AS LONG AS THIS MOVIE COMES OUT FIRST

OH HAPPY DAAAAAAY :DDDDDDD

The first time I heard about it I was extremely disappointed that I hadn't thought of it first. Then when I found out who was doing it I had to admit to myself that even if I HAD thought of this earlier, no one would ever have listened to me anyway and I'd rather someone do the thing properly than such an awesome idea fade into obscurity. So simple and yet so brilliant. I wanted to go to the Comic-Con panel but it was interfering with my Dexter. I also am sick of arty independent movies, so something as obviously blockbustery but clearly badass as "Cowboys & Aliens" is like amazing. If I had a high-up position in a studio, all you'd have to do is walk in, say the title, and I'd be like, "SOLD. Here is your blank check." It's going to be a masterpiece.

PLEASE OWN A STUDIO

ASAP

I feel like so many of the movies I have been waiting for could get made this way. Namely, claymation zombie dinosaurs.

But for reals, I am with you, I think part of my overwhelming shock and general thrilled-ness was the fact that this concept hadn't occurred to me, whyyyyy, but you know, it's nice to still be able to be surprised. GOOD ON YOU, PEOPLE MAKING THIS MOVIE. Also, I didn't even like Iron Man. I don't even like cowboys/cowboy movies. So I am kind of amazed by all the things I don't like coming together to make this MASTERPIECE. This must be how... I CAN'T EVEN THINK OF A COMPARISON. I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR LIKE FIVE MINUTES.

See, what really kills me is that I was a step away from this concept. My friend and I had actually developed an idea years back (that I've seen now almost-manifest on numerous occasions elsewhere) about Abraham Lincoln fighting all things supernatural and unexpected in the old west. We were going to pit him against vampires, zombies, aliens, dinosaurs, werewolves, ghosts, all sorts of shit, and he was basically just going to Liam Neeson them. So realistically, I had already come up with "pair elements of futuristic sci-fi with western setting and modern action flicks," but I had never quite simplified it down this far. (However, that book where Abraham Lincoln slays vampires...that just seems like thought theft.) So I'm super delighted because this had done something that I had imagined in my ridiculous fantasies of What Should Exist, but I hadn't quite gotten here, so it's exciting and new while at the same time being something I've been DYING to see for AGES. (I suspect this is the same reason I'm thrilled about the BBC ( ... )

ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. Also, I may deeply despise Iron Man, but this bro is going to rock my world with Cowboys vs. Aliens. Also Snakes on a Plane was a total disappointment in a lot of ways, because what is best about the ridiculous horror movie genre is when they genuinely try to make it into as good of a movie as possible, but it's also a little bit ridiculous.

Also, sorry for bringing it up, but I couldn't help it! It was like Jesus making it rain skittles directly into my hand so I can go buy a unicorn, A MOMENT FOR SHARING, but goddamn, the summer has never felt so far away!

Well exactly re: Snakes on a Plane. That's why this movie is gonna be pimpin'...because it has a similar brilliant foundation except it's going to actually be awesome.
