sna (03:16:32): ki! i forgot. i have an awesome story to tell you.
Ki (03:16:48): ooh?
sna (03:16:50): well, not so much awesome as... well... One Of Those Things That Needs Retold.
Ki (03:16:58): *listens*
sna (03:17:44): well, my cousin's friend's friend lived out in hong kong for a bit. and its warmer there, bit more tropical, so she kept a pet snake. python.
sna (03:18:32): had him for over six years, from little to bigger, fed him mice and chicks and such. he had a tank, but the lid was off so he could come and go. the python used to come sit in her lap while she watched tv.
sna (03:19:18): never tried to escape, never left the flat, just pottered around and sat under the sunlamp or on the windowsill, then sat with her while she did stuff about the flat.
Ki (03:19:56): *nodding*
sna (03:20:08): anyway, generally snakes like that are really easy to care for in a warm climate. they have really regular behaviour and such. only need to feed them every few weeks and they always eat what you give them.
sna (03:20:24): but then she gets worried, cos the snake stops eating what she gives him.
sna (03:20:29): even live stuff he won't touch.
sna (03:20:43): and he's getting pretty skinny and sad looking.
sna (03:20:53): so she's worried, and she takes him to the vet.
Ki (03:21:10): oooh, poor snake!
sna (03:21:38): yes, that's what she said and so did the vet! then the vet checked snake over, and asked her if he'd been doing anything odd behaviourally.
sna (03:22:37): and she said, well... there was one thing. when she went to bed each night usually the snake went back to his tank cos it was warm and home. but over the past few months it'd been following her to bed and lying stretched out flat next to her for a few minutes... then gone to the tank.
sna (03:23:36): at which point the vet said '............okay....you can't take the snake home.' and she was all 'what? huh? why?'
Ki (03:24:00): *starting to get worried*
sna (03:24:45): and the vet said, 'the snake's been measuring itself against you. you've had it for six years, and in a couple of weeks it thinks its gonna be big enough to eat you, so its been starving itself to prepare and measuring you for size'
Ki (03:25:16): ....seriously?
sna (03:25:23): seriously.
sna (03:25:43): the starving itself part i can get my head around easy enough. but the measuring!? holy crap!
sna (03:26:14): the vet wouldn' let her take the snake home. he killed him. cos the snake was perfectly sanguine about killing and eating her, and he was gonna do it.
sna (03:26:30): and to this *day* she doesn't believe it.
Ki (03:26:48): oh my gosh. *just told roommate, who is now horrified and squealing*
sna (03:27:02): i know! i know!
sna (03:27:08): but its a story that has to be told! like i said!
sna (03:27:31): i mean i love snakes! ive kept them myself! but dude. that's just... whoa.
Ki (03:28:02): now TWO of my roommates are disturbed and shaking
sna (03:28:09): .......>.> awesome.
sna (03:28:42): *grin*
Ki (03:28:49): she's spazzing. XDD
sna (03:28:51): but seriously, right? what a story
Ki (03:29:18): WOW. seriously.
sna (03:29:46): i felt i should share it. and i knew you'd appreciate it for the hm... underlying spookyness.
Ki (03:30:02): I appreciate having freaked out my roommates. >>
sna (03:30:04): (*thinks its a tale fi would love too*)
sna (03:30:06): *grin*
sna (03:30:09): *high four*
Ki (03:30:12): you should LJ it!
sna (03:30:20): okay then
sna (03:30:23): *spreads the love*
sna (03:30:31): or the whatever
