#Supernatural You Either Be Of Major Importance Or You Die

'If you no longer need them, they die'.

I wonder if that's what happened to Cas, Dean no longer needed him, so he left him behind in Purgatory. That would be very sad if it were true, and I'm not sure how Dean could be seen as redeemable after that. It seems like the theme of this season is a 'means to an end', everything is expendable, if your not doing anything to help the scenario than you need to be taken out of the picture. Wonder if this applies to Sam as well. We are seeing how Sam is distancing himself from the hunts, he's no longer fully engaged as he used to be. He has Dean's back, but he's allowing Dean to do most of the grunt work. Sam has become more like a partner you call on when there's no one else, as opposed to being the only partner you could call on. I wonder if Sam is too expandable, or does 'family' and 'little brother' trump that theory.

I don't know, it seems to me the writers are treading on dangerous waters right now. There is a divide between the brothers, and conflict with themselves, as well. Dean is harsher, more predatory and Sam is mellowed out and nonchalant (to put in so many words). I can't help but feel that fandom is either going to hate or love the way the boys turn out at the end of the season. There is no longer in between, you are either liking the harsher Dean or your not. You are either liking the more laid back Sam or your not.

Personally, I'm finding it hard to like Dean. Only because he does seem to lack the empathy he once had, now maybe it's because of his time in Purgatory, or maybe he's just fed up all together, but it's very disconcerting to see him be this way. I'm also finding Sam to be a little bit frustrating, he's so cool, calm and collected. I'm not denying the hotness that comes with that, and it's refreshing seeing him being less emo, but it's very weird watching him so distant from Dean and that one thing that has defined his life for so many years. The family business.

I don't know, these are just my initial feelings after watching the 1st two episodes of the season. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this new direction the show is heading in, I just don't like the unsettling feeling the end of the episodes have been bringing. What do you guys think?

Poll The Winchesters Poll

Btw I plan on writing a joint review for episodes 1 & 2, with in depth thoughts and theories and all that other good stuff ;) Stay tuned!
