So, as the previous post drunkenly declared, I had a birthday this past week - my thirtieth. While it wasn't the festive, epic event I sort of imagined it would be, it was wonderful still (barring my lapse into a vague little depression these past few days). On Saturday morning I woke up and read in bed next to Sean, and after some coffee & toast we went biking. Aside from totally biffing and acquiring fucking painful road rash toward the end of the ride, it felt so good to be on the towpath again. We were granted simply perfect weather, too - sharp blue sky and throbbing sun, which really contrasted beautifully with the pumpkin, lemon, and raspberry-colored leaves. It was warm, around 75 or so, and the air smelled wooden and rustic. There was some decayed leaves on the trail and they crunched under our tires. We rode for about an hour and twenty minutes until we had to head back (this is also when my leg met its awful, bloody, scabby fate) because we had to drive down to Green for the joint birthday celebration my family was having for Billy and me. Since it was so sublime outside, we decided to have it at the park. My mom brought Guiseppe's pizza, spice cake, and apple cider, along with these tiny plastic pumpkins filled with miniature Twix bars, Smarties, and candy corn (my mom is so cool). I spent the afternoon sitting in the sun and hanging out with my brothers, my sister, the kiddies, my mom, and Sean. Brandon was also there! It was quite nice to see him as our interactions, aside from having a physics class together last semester, have been sparse ever since he got back together with Hope. After much gluttony and with dusk's entrance, we all departed. Sean and I went to my mom's for a while before going home (it still feels so neat to say that).

I greeted my birthday with livingroom debauchery. Sean had a bit of whiskey; I had three-quarters of a bottle of cheap chardonnay & two blueberry ales. It happens. Just not with me, usually. I was likely obnoxious toward the end of the night, as that was when it started to hit me. Fortunately I didn't wake up with the headache I thought I'd have to keep with me as a birthday souvenir. No, just Sean telling me I sang parts of Minnie Riperton's 'Loving You' really loud for it being three o'clock in the morning. I think it's a hilarious song, at least in the context of the story he told me about his friend Robert singing it incessantly at one point. I thought I would do the same thing, but I suppose I should have chosen a more appropriate time of day. I must remember that.

On my official born-a-versary, Sean and I went to Silver Creek Metro Park and hiked on one of the trails. Again, another gorgeous day. I got to don the lovely necklace he made for me as a birthday gift! Afterward we went to Target and then did some grocery shopping.
