I've felt a tad too hostile toward this journal lately. Whenever I sit down to write, I have a difficult time putting my thoughts into text form. I crave a polished, organized journal - one with structure and substance. But by the time I am finished typing three sentences, my lunch break is over and the realization that I just wasted half an hour on what is essentially rubbish just pisses me off. So, in an honest effort to avoid repeating history, I am going to write about what is really swimming in my brain right now: pancakes.
After a drizzly four-mile hike on the towpath yesterday, Sean and I went to IHOP for coffee and pancakes. I got the Blueberry Harvest Grain & Nut variety. Truthfully, it was the best fucking pancake I have ever had. Sean, though seemingly uncomfortable after finishing his, seemed quite happy that he got to have the boysenberry syrup.
We went home, watched a good PBS documentary called "Ghosts of Rwanda", and went to sleep on freshly laundered sheets.
Time for the actual lunch portion of my lunch break. Carrots and oatmeal. Not exactly pancakes, but I enjoy these things too. And, they've become the high point of my work day, truth be told.
