I couldn't help but read this post even if I'm a Catholic... and let me defend what I believe in a little bit.

First of all- most of the money that churches earn goes toward the better of humankind. They have to pay their pastors, provide food/clothes/services to the homeless, keep up maintenance, keep up support groups, etc. Chances are, your church got a grant from some wealthy family, which went toward building a better place. It is not a bad thing- especially since churches are pretty mcuh around for good, and they probably wanted to build a place that would last for a while.

And about the Bible... I can see why so many people are cynical about it, because some of the things that were said in it are very hard to believe, but remember: this wasn't God's work. It was just some men that wanted to interpret events their own word. It's supposed to be a guideline, not the truth of the religion.

With the pastors... they're here to provide us with HOPE, and inspire us. They're passing on moral knowledge, and little life ancendotes. There's been occassions where I went through some very hard times, and talking to my old pastor greatly helped me because he encouraged me to be the better person. Nobody is perfect, and while I know some pastors has sinned a great amount, but it doesnt mean you shouldn't listen to them. It's just like when your parents tell you to not smoke or something- maybe they smoke themselves (like in my case), but if you think about it: they're right. So you shouldn't look at what they do in their personal life, but listen to the advice. It's there to help you.

I do feel silly praying... that's something I agree with you on. I also agree that you don't have to go to church to have a relationship with God.

I don't mean this to be an attack... but I guess, from differing perspectives, I just wanted to offer you my input. There's been a lot of times when I was uncertain about my religion, and these are just some of the things I've realized. This doesn't affect my opinion of you at all- so dont worry =)
