“KERO-CHAN ATTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK~!”
Sakura’s pink plushie elephant never stood a chance. Kero was the master of all things small and fuzzy, and under his rule he would be supreme ruler of Sakura’s room. An evil laugh bubbled up in his throat as he pushed the plushie to the floor and proudly sat on it. It had been his foe many times before when Sakura was mad at him. Seeing the fluffy toy soar through the air at lightning speed only to know it would soon be hitting him in the head gave him nightmares, but not anymore. Today, he was no one’s slave. He had beaten every other stuffed animal in Sakura’s bedroom, and today he was finally king.
“Today is a day for the history books. I, Cerberus, am your king and from now on, you will all serve ME. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!” His laughter rang through the room, followed by the soft giggling of a few of the cards hidden away in the nearby desk drawer.
“Now if only you could defeat the mysterious enemy that’s after us as easily as you defeated a stuffed animal,” a dry, humorless voice said from behind him.
Kero swung around with a cry, instantly changing form. His hackles were raised, and a soft growl emitted from him. “Yue. You know not to sneak up on me.”
Yue noted the faint redness underneath Kero’s fur and only arched an eyebrow. “Apparently now I know why.”
Kero stuck his tongue out at the colder, taller guardian. He nudged the pink elephant back to its original position amongst a mountain of stuffed animals piled in the corner, then hopped up on Sakura’s bed. It was a little on the small side, and he had to be careful which way he shifted his weight or it snapped in half, but overall it was the comfiest place in the room. He curled himself up in a distinctly cat-like position and rested his head on his paws. He looked up at Yue, still looking somewhat embarrassed.
“The great Cerberus enjoys mastering inanimate objects of bright colors?” Yue continued on. It wasn’t often he got the chance to tease the usually sunny guardian, but today he would take full advantage.
“It’s not like you’ve never done it,” Kero grumbled.
Yue’s feathers, figuratively and literally, ruffled. “I have done nothing of the sort.”
“Oh? I recall a certain white blanket,” Kero replied, suddenly looking smug.
Yue blushed to his ears. It was the first thing their master Clow had ever given to him. It had been ratty at the time, and whenever Yue felt frustrated or lonely, the blanket was always close by. By the time Clow died, all that remained were a few dirty, tattered scraps. He’d slept with it every single night. He even still had a piece, tucked into his pocket.
Silence permeated the room. Kero grinned. “Gotcha.”
“Shut up, Cerberus.”
Kero’s laughter once again filled the room, and the cards continued to giggle.
