Well, I'm back.
My trip was so surreal that in many ways I feel like I never left.
1) It is very good to have friends and family in as many places as possible.
2) When surrounded by several large men, avoid topics of political controversy
3) You can sleep when you're dead
4) Adventures will always happen when you've decided it's time to rest, rather than when you're looking for them.
5) Italian wine really is that good.
6) When in doubt, make the reservation early.
7) Pootards (usually) come in pairs
8) Always count the number of items you're carrying and make sure you have that exact number everytime you leave a place.
9) Don't forget to validate your ticket.
10) Scooters and mopeds are actually the best mode of transportation.
11) Italian kitties are extremely clever
12) There can never be too much curly hair (or so I've been told)
13) On certain topics, there is no such thing as a language barrier
14) It's ok if you don't get to see everything
15) Sand will inevitably end up in your bathing suit, even when you're not expecting it
16) My hair really can get me things (like free alcohol)
17) There are, in fact, no Romanians left in Romania - they have all moved to Italy
18) After 23 years, my parents will still worry when I haven't come home yet
19) Be weary, best friends will always talk
20) Having a good wingman is everything
Things are...ok.
Yesterday my parents took me to the beach, only to pick fights with me all morning. Apparently after I partied so much in Santorini, based solely on the late hours I was keeping, my father's opinion of me deteriorated immensely.
I'm also adjusting to the fact that when I came home, I was introduced to Julia's new boy who is currently living at our house. He's from Boise, and to be honest, it's a little weird. But he's nice and engaging. We went out for drinks the other day while Julia had to go do something and got along very well.
Now I have to get my life together and start focusing on serious things again - not amused.
But, I guess life can't be all scooters and greek islands...
NY people should find cheap/free things to do with me, beause I officially have NO money and NO job.
