Today was strange, but the first really solidly good day I've had in a while.
No, it was better than good.
I somehow managed to wake up to my alarm this morning, despite having gone to bed a little drunk at around 2:30am.
I got to the new ICTJ office early to be greeted by the two very tired but very greatful looking guys who've been overseeing the moving process. I set my stuff down and Jim, the guy who got me my job in the first place, explained what I had to do (basically answer the phone if it rang) and then asked if I had had breakfast. I said not really and he insisted on giving me money to go get some. He also insisted that they would pay for my lunch too. He then decided that instead of me having to come back to the office and pick up a check, he would just gie me cash at the end of the day, but ssssshhhh no one's supposed to know that. I made a ridiculous amount for the 6.5 hours i ended up sitting by that phone. Not to mention it only rang twice.
I read my travel book a little, I read about Romanian communism a little.
I wrote a lot. I actually wrote the first poem I'd been inspired to write in a while. I'd put it here, but it's um...a little too racy. Most likely the result of my new found celibacy (shutup Tony, I know it hasn't been that long).
The other bizarre thing was that people were just smiling and throwing compliments at me left and right! I don't know where it came from. One of the construciton consultants complimented my hair and the guy at the newstand where I bought water on the way home told me that I came from heaven - he explained why, but through his accent I could only pick out that had something to do with my smile.
Last night was really fun too, but I want to go running now, so I'll save that for another happy post. :)
