Where I work...

I have vacillated on this place several times for differnet reasons, mostly pertaining to my general mood at the time and my position within the organization.

Being really "in it" though, helps my perception and improveds my demeanor about my experience.

Every Wednesday (effective as of last week) we have substantive meeitngs concerning the different projects and places people work on and in.

What I find really incredible about this field in general is the way different experiences are brought together to see whether we can learn something from what has already happened.
After today's presentation on the conflict in Uganda and ICTJ's work there, our organization president made some comments about logistics and things that should be kept in mind and I couldn't help but think how amazing it is that this Argentinian lawyer who was imprisoned during the Dirty War and who defended prisoners can now make these poignant comments about the situation in Uganda. Sometimes things like that really strike me and make me feel slightly less helpless and hopeless about the state of things.

It's something to meditate on - can our increased communication and interaction help to alleviate some of the logistical problems peace makers and those who work in the interest of justice face in their endeavours.

work, transitional justice, hope
