wow...

I've been trying to get myself to post about a bunch of different things. I realized I never posted about Thanksgiving where I got into a discussion with my cool cousins about the Romania-project. I didn't post about the party we had, which was attend by a friend of a friend from Europe and her four German friends and the craziness that that entailed. But finally, I have something that has motivated me to post.

About two years ago, while I was in France, I had this brief two-day fling with a Danish guy. It was a freak event that lasted maybe a total 40 hours, at the end of which he told me he thought he was starting to fall in love with me (which baffled me). Still it was fun, and although I didn't see him after that, and honestly didn't think I would ever hear from him again much beyond his stay in Strasbourg, he periodically writes to me usually with a few lines just about how he's doing. Honestly, never more than a few lines and he asks how I'm doing. I usually respond and then it's months before I hear from him again. About a week or so ago I got a slightly longer email from him about how things are going, my Danish fling is in a serious relationship, they're thinking of buying a house, he's working on his nurses' degree. I responded and today got an even longer email. He's going to be a father!! He sent me the sonogram. I can't believe it!
First that anyone I would've had a fling with already being a dad (he's a bit older, turning 30, but still). Second that this man still feels attatched to that experience enough to want to share it with me. It's really sweet. Also, how happy I feel for him. He sounds so happy in his email, and yet, honestly, I barely know that guy. Anyway, I just thought you all should know that somewhere in Denmark there is an eskimo-viking who rides a motorcycle and is studying to be a nurse and he's really happy, because he's going to be a dad.
