1. Take five books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph:

The letter was in Earth script, unhandily scrawled in blobby blue ballpoint.  The craftsmanship was superb; the plaques glittered and chimed as they struck one another.  Some of the rooms were carved out of the limestone of the hillside itself.  But Tommy interrupted regardless of decorum.  Tomorrow began the new world, and the work thereof.

Hexwood, Diana Wynne Jones.
Requieum for a Ruler of Worlds, Brian Daley.
Street of the Five Moons, Elizabeth Peters.
The Secret Adversary, Agatha Christie.
Ethan of Athos, Lois McMaster Bujold.

Um, well, that...makes very little sense.  The first two sentences almost make sense, if you allow for letters written on chiming plaques, and the last two sentences make sense together.  A pity about the caves in the middle there.  They don't go with anything.
