Classes, Shopping, Diets, Avoiding Death

So, I'm back in State College for the rest of the summer...

Classes are going fine so far, but chemistry constantly stresses me out. There's so much work to do, and he assigns problems we haven't covered yet in class, and for the other stuff I'm not sure if I'm doing it right because the answers aren't the ones shown in the solution manual. Re: the diet thing? First off, I don't think you're even close to "borderline fat"! You're gorgeous, okay? You're beautiful. I think everyone's body has a natural "set point" which is the weight it will tend to hover around when you're eating "normally" and when your health is good. The problem with this kind of definition is, obviously, one person's normal is not necessarily the same as everyone else's, but the idea is pretty sound, at least in my experience ( ... )

Awww, thanks June, you're sweet *hugs*

Thanks for commenting too! I liked your novellengthcomment :P And it does make me feel a bit better. The "set point" and all that. Definitely a different way of looking at things... =)

I like this summary of things. It makes sense in a lot of ways.

Additionally, I happened to be watching the Lady Gaga Telephone video with a bunch of people in the theatre earlier this year (a bunch of them guys) and at the end when Gaga is dancing next to Beyonce, the convo went something like this:

"Woah, dancing!"
"Wow, Beyonce is SUPER HOT"
"wow, look how skinny Gaga is in comparison!"
Bryan: yeah, she's SUPER skinny! if she gained 10 pounds, damn this would be sexy!
Guys: yep.

Well I'm so glad you liked it! So many people feel bad about their bodies, and it's such a struggle to overcome that, and I think that's just so unfair.

Haha and that conversation is good! It's very reassuring in some ways XD It does make me think, though, because they're still evaluating her based on her weight. I don't know, it just kind of reminds me of the ad campaigns where plus-size stores talk about selling clothes for "real women". Which, on the one hand, yay empowerment, right? But your weight really shouldn't determine how 'real' you are.
