OBAMA YAY.

It's a relief to come to college and finally have people I can TALK to about politics and stuff! I can actually have discussions! Not all of it is intelligent, though; loads of us were in Liam's apartment the other night and Connor put up MCCAIN NO. 1 signs and stuck a picture of Palin on the telly. But he was only going for McCain because he thinks she's hot *eyeroll* I wasn't taking him seriously.

Then last night Martha was here, and we were watching the election coverage with Megan, my American roommate. We stayed up until half twelve, but the results of only two states were in so we called it a night. This morning I woke up at nine and immediately went into the kitchen to turn on the telly. Seeing that Obama had won filled me with intense relief, but not really surprise. I was expecting him to win, but I had a kind of bad feeling about it. But thank God.

Wore my Obama t-shirt today again. I was talking to a few people about the elections - one guy stayed up all night, and a girl told me she cried during Obama's acceptance speech. Also, I now have more respect for McCain, since he conceded defeat with such dignity.

All is right with the world. Well, it's a bit more right that it was.

friends, us presidential elections
