(no subject)

Aoife called this evening to quickly tell me to put on 2FM; they were going to give hints about what might come up on the Irish paper. Which they did, but I'm not going to bank too much on it. I'm already banking a lot on other stuff. I could be digging myself into a hole here.

Lately I've been worrying about my future a lot. As in courses in college and stuff. I emailed Maynooth, and they sent me this email back (writing in bold is part of my email):

Hi Roisin,

my colleague Rose has asked me to look after your query.

I want to do the English denominated degree. If I take an Arts subject like Psychology with this, will I still have the career option of becoming a psychologist?

in relation to taking Psychology in first year, as part of the English denominated degree you will only be able to take psychology in first year as
it is not possible to take psychology as a minor subject in 2nd and 3rd year.

as part of our Arts Degree MH 101 the top 30 students go through into second and third year psychology where psychology is then a single subject only.

Long-term if you would like to undertake a career in Psychology this can be done at postgrad conversion level where you may get some credits for
having studies Psychology at first year but you should also be able to undertake psychology conversion courses without any psychology. A sample list of
these courses can be found via www.qualifax.ie under their postgrad level Psychology

Yours sincerely,

Lorraine

So...even though I can't do both English and psychology at the same time, I feel reassured that the option is always going to be there after three years. Anyway, all my father says is to just go and enjoy the course, and don't worry about future work; he says this because all his Pharmacy degree brought him was work in, well, pharmacy.
