Happy Late Birthday, Chie! whoops.
It's hard to be upset over your friends missing your birthday, when you end up missing it yourself. Those were Chie's thoughts as she stood in front of the calendar in her room, staring at the date. July 31st. Yesterday she'd turned seventeen. She didn't feel one bit different, but then again, wasn't that usually the case?
Oh well. There was no sense proclaiming it to the streets now, and she wasn't typically bothered by such things in the first place. Besides, with the kidnappings and the murders and the beating up shadows, who had time for cake?
Still, seemed a shame to just let it slide like that. Especially since there was no school on Sunday! So she decided to celebrate it on her own and enjoy the hell out of it, never mind the lateness of it all. After she showered and dressed and wolfed down a breakfast of toast and eggs, she sketched out a plan. First, head to Junes and pick up a copy of the new Jet Li movie she'd been dying to see. After that she'd hit up the food court and order a grilled steak. Heh heh, maybe she'd even persuade Yosuke into treating her, if he was working today. That'd be a bonus! Then a few hours of training down on the floodplain until she was exhausted, refresh herself with a soda, and head home to stare at her homework and put it off until she was too tired to make any sense of it.
It would be the perfect day.
