[Ami quickly turns to some notebook paper and begins to take down every thing which she deems important, whether it be real or fabricated.]
"I'm learning quite a bit about the town's recent history. Everything with the town becoming socialist, the Smith's party, it's all so terribly intriguing."

If he is not wearing pink, he may be droned, yes. He is often found here at the library.
[ She keeps her tone low, as befitting a library. ]
Once you have completed your survey, talking to those like us who have been here a long time. The Rose can direct you to likely interviewees. I've only been here two months, but there are those who have been here years.

[The thought weighs heavy on Ami. To think that she herself could be stuck here for longer than a week, a month, or even a single year!]
"My survey? Do you mean the one that arrived in the mail a few days ago?"

My assigned mate has been here a year and a half.
[ Then she shakes her head, tapping Ami's notes. ]
Your survey of the material in the library. Every point of view we have is another tool to figure out the puzzle. It might be something you notice as odd that helps us find a way out.

"How do I find this Mister Rose?"

[ Ilsa pauses to look around for him, and not seeing him will continue: ] He's rather striking, I'd say. The shade of pink he favors is not a color the drone men care to wear.

Perhaps if I made myself known to him he might approach me? I do not mean to make a scene or anything like that, just simply communicate with him over the telephone network. Would that be problematic or do you think it wise to do so, Miss Ilsa?"
[Oh Ami, so proper!]

[Ami nods her head, picking up a few of her remaining books. Scurrying about the library aisles in haste, Ami replaces the books where she found them. Still clinging to her notebook, the young girl bows once more to Ilsa before taking her leave.]
