Soldier of Knowledge - First Waterfall

[Ami awoke to the familiar, fuzzy haze of the early morning. Almost instantly she sensed that things were not right. Her surroundings, the fuzzy outlines of furniture, her position in the room and the size of her bed, were all out of place. Instinctively, Ami reached to the bedside table which normally would be where she placed her eyeglasses from the night previous. Her fingers felt along the smooth marble surface, nothing like the small, wooden table from her room. Finding with her touch what seemed to resemble a pair of glasses, she hurriedly unfolded them and placed them upon her nose. She turned to view the marble topped stand, letting out an worried gasp as she noticed some thing very important missing for her new surroundings: her communicator phone was gone.

Looking about the room in a panic, Ami could feel her heart drop into her stomach. The style of the room was certainly not her own, but instead was very western looking. She could tell by the architecture and choice of furniture that it resembled some thing like that of the late 1940's or 1950's era interior design. For a brief moment of levity, Ami supposed it was a good thing she had read the few books her Mother owned on interior decorating from America. The light coming into the room was bright enough to look mid day, giving Ami the impression that it couldn't have been any later than 12 P.M., judging by the shadows cast upon the floor.

"Where am I? What.. What happened to my..?", Ami spoke aloud. She tossed her blankets to either side of the bed, thinking that perhaps she may have fallen asleep with it in her hands. No success. The phone had gone missing. It was not hopeless, she reminded herself, but it would certainly make things a bit difficult. This is very odd, Ami thought. Seemed like only moments ago the bind on her psyche had been broken, her existence as "Dark Mercury" having been only a fleeting memory. So with her now being an ally of justice again she thought to herself, what was she doing in a room such as this? Her mouth hung open slightly as she saw the many portraits and photographs which hung from the walls in "her" room. Pictures Ami could not recall ever being in, for that matter not knowing the others whom stood beside her like family, loomed down on her with a weight of heavy confusion. What was she doing in these pictures, she thought. She would not find answers in this solo occupant room, Ami told herself. Cautiously, like the silent pitter-patter of a mouse, Ami rose from her bed and made her way to the bedroom door with her back pressed against the wall.

As Ami crept conspicuously down the hall to a flight of stairs, she looked in disbelief as she passed by more portraits and photographs of her in situations she could not remember. It was as if she had awoken from a coma, she felt, wondering if perhaps she had just been living in a terrible dream on the other side. Tsukino-san, Mako-chan, and even Hino-san. Were they all just figments of a sleep induced world? As she reached the bottom step of the stairs, Ami saw a small table immediately to her right. There, a small, black phone sat. It was very old fashioned. Ami could not recall ever seeing such an old model so closely. Her intellectual side could not help but examine it with an attention to detail. It was a rotary style phone, which of course, she knew how to operate. Perhaps calling the police would be a wise decision?

Picking up the phone, Ami dialed "1-1-9", spinning her finger in the plastic rotary cover with a bit of haste. There was no ring, but a busy signal. Tapping her finger onto the small, protruding button on the phone rest, Ami proceeded to dial "0" instead. A few rings later, and the sound of a phone picking up on the other end came into Ami's ear. She waited a moment for a reply, but upon hearing nothing, she took it upon herself to speak..]

"Moshi moshi? Ah.. Sumi-masen? Imasuka..?"

[Her voice becomes more panicked and rushed. It sounds as if Ami is beginning to cry on the other end.]

"Imasuka?! Oi! Oi! Kikoemasu ka, Tsukino-san?!"

[Perhaps, she thought, I'm not speaking the right language??]

"H-Hello?! Ah.. Ano.. Is.. Is anyone.. there?"
