That was our view at the concert last night. We were fifteen feet from the piano master himself, Sir Elton. Definitely one of the coolest shows I've ever gotten to check out in person. At the end of the night, for the last four or five songs, they let us move closer to the stage and stand while he played. That's where things went a bit downhill.
People were kinda pushing around, and I was like, "Shit, been to six Pantera shows and six Cannibal Corpse shows...fuck these fiftyplussers"...but after he left and was doing the "you know I'm gonna do an encore thing" I let my guard down, looking around, talking to Erin. Next thing, instead of having three people in front of me, I've got five...Elton comes back out, Sharpie in hand. Yep. He signed about 100 things. My ticket not being one of them. Oh well. Whatever. We go to the booth to buy shirts. I pay with my card, and, in a hurry, put the card back in my pocket. This morning I realize, I guess I left my wallet on the table.
GOOD IDEA! GOOD THINKIN'!
So, now I'm out a wallet. I have to cancel a couple of credit cards and get a new license. I might just wait until next month, since I have to renew it in November anyway (the 29 year old renewal)!!!
Aside from that, great show all around. I wouldn't really trade the experience. Just do a few things differently. I thought about yelling, "Sign this Elton! Please! I have AIDS!"
But, I didn't say that. I thought that would be too over the top.
Donnie and two of his pals helped me carry a bunch of OSB into the house today. The trusses go on this week (Tuesday)...I'll probably not be at work so I can help with that. I haven't missed a day yet this school year. I think this may be the first time I've made it all the way into October without a day off since my first year of teaching. That proves my lamenisety.
I also helped Orr today with some drywalling. I'm like Bob Fucking Vila right now.
The tattoo is healing nicely. It's barely scarring at all.
Tonight, D and I are having lobstertailpartyaction with Melissa, Joe, Julian and more. Should be bomb times.
I need beer. Drinking must commence!
