Well, for the short term thing. You know the drill Anna. I know you know this. You know exactly what you have to do. Why are you asking us to tell you? I'm trying not to be mean, but you have told me before what you've done and how successful you were at that. I listened to you. I know you're smart about all of this.
I'm going to just tell you what I'm doing. I'm not losing weight though, so I don't know how helpful it is. I bring my lunch to work, I don't go out to get fastfood. I eat salads. I don't coat it with ranch dressing, I use caesar vinagrette. I have chicken that I add to it that you can buy at the grocery store. I also add chickpeas and other stuff. I try to stay away from the bad parts of the salad, which is the dressing. I also try to eat fruit, I eat in portions, all the day. I eat during breaks, just not huge meals.
In college, I used to go home after classes and sit around till work. I then decided to take my clothes with me to class, go to the gym and work out instead of doing that. It made me feel better during the day. Sure I went to work sweaty, but fuck what everyone thinks. I used to allocate two hours, if I had that block during hte day. An hour to work out, an hour to get dressed/shower/get ready for the next class. It's a rush, and the rushing to and from campus is also a good work out.
You know you have to balance the diet and exercise. You have an ipod right? Get an awesome workout mix. That's what motivates me. I can send you some suggestions that you want.
I give up on weightloss though. I just can't do it. I won't lose weight ever.
If you eat on campus, try to eat differently. If you eat fried chicken, try splitting it with a friend. If you want a salad, ask for the dressing on the side and dip the lettuce into it. Try not to use it all. you'll see that you don't. Split stuff, share stuff. Doing this with someone makes it so much easier. I know. I used to do it alone and I hated it.
If you're stressing about it, it won't make it better either. I know from experience. I'd stress about losing weight and that would make me put on weight. It's just a disgusting battle. Be happy, don't torture yourself. You have one life to live, you have to enjoy it to the fullest. I know you want to make lifestyle changes, and I applaude you. Just make sure you're not makig yourself unhappy because you can't have that ice cream you wanted or piece of chocolate. Just share it. Split it with a friend, eat a piece of chocolate now and then later. I can't do that, so I just share it with people. In that way it's not all on you.
Okay, rant, sorry. i hope you didnt' read all of this.
i did read it all. i know how to lose weight, but sometimes it's just nice to hear it from someone that i trust to give me a good kick in the ass. because i think that's what i need more than anything - motivation.
and money. because healthy food is fucking expensive !
i'm giving up meat and fried foods for the next month. also carbonated sodas and refined sugars. we'll see how it all goes. haha
i think th ebiggest part is something you mentioned - just moving more. when i played basketball in hs i could eat whatever i wanted because my season never ended - summer ball, aau, spring ball, actual season, running, personal trainer, all of it. and now, i don't do shit. my knees are all fucked up, and it's so embarassing running in front of people with a slight limp, and a lot of extra heaving now haha. i guess i'm just embarassed to get back into it.
