In an effort to both post more often and study I have decided that every Friday I shall post a random fact from each of my classes.
It is also an attempt to stave off boredom. :D
Random facts from the first week of Uni.
Archaeology of East Asia:
Archaeology was first conducted in Korea by the Japanese to find evidence to support their invasion into Korea.
Writing Poetry:
Historically a Tanka (similar to a haiku) was used to send secret messages between lovers. A Tanka is a poem that has five lines, the first is 5 syllables long, the second 7 syllables, the third five syllables and the last two 7 syllables again.
According to my handout, no experience was complete until a Tanka had been written about it.
African Archaeology:
Africa was the birthplace of humanity. Modern humans emerged c. 200-150 thousand years ago. Homo Ergastor/Erectus emerged 1.9 million years ago, it was the first fully bipeadal hominid (that we know about) their legs were made for running and their brains were about half the size of ours.
There, the first collection of random facts from each of my classes, I'm sure they'll get more interesting as the week progress.
Disclaimer: these facts are from the notes I have taken during the lectures, some of which are incomplete or something that I thought I'd remember but haven't.
