Okay, starting tonight I am back to writing every night. I fell out of it this past month for what I hope can be seen as obvious reasons -- I was ring-shopping and proposal-arranging and generally freaking out a bit about actually asking Meg to marry me. Not enough to warrant second thoughts, but it's a pretty big step and that fact was not lost on me. Plus my computer crashed on me for a week and that was a bit stressful. Luckily, everything was recovered.
So with that completed, I move on to writing 500-1000 words each night as I did for a bit in January, and I will make far more progress than I've made so far.
The NFL free agency period has begun, and in a shocker of shockers, my Redskins have not attempted to purchase the entire league as usual. We've picked up a talented middle linebacker in Buffalo's London Fletcher, and my favorite NFL player, Fred Smoot, has returned to the team that drafted him. Smoot was a second-round pick in 2001, and was known for being undersized, too skinny, and a tremendous trash talker. He instantly became my NFL hero.
With Fred Smoot, Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers, Sean Taylor, and some stiff over at strong safety, it's possible that teams maybe won't be able to beat the Redskins just by throwing past them all the time. I'm excited for the upcoming season, and I realize the silliness in saying that roughly four weeks after the last one ended.
Next update will either come tonight or tomorrow morning, with the word count and all that jazz.
This is Matt, who also thinks that the Redskins should draft Clemson DE Gaines Adams with their first-round pick.
