Jdeideh bombing
My friends and I went out to dinner downtown and rented a discovery chanel movie about tigers. Then we got dressed and went to the V Lounge with my suitemates. At 1:15 Steph turned to me and said, "we have to go. There was an explosion not far from here." We walked out and her friend drove us back to AUB. Everyone left the club immediately. No one knows what is happening. The news here has yet to report who is behind the bomb. The footage on Aljazeera is really scary. It looks like the buildings that were destroyed during the war. So far they are reporting 7 casualties. Some girls said that this is the start of another Civil War, while some just shook their heads and said "welcome to Beirut" before they went upstairs to go to bed. I don't really know what to make of this. All the international students react differently. Some laugh it off as nothing, some shut down, other people call home almost in tears. I'm just confused. I don't understand the rules here.
