Very frequently, people ask me about the necklace I am always wearing. For whatever reason, it has become a great conversation starter and fun way to meet new people. Last night a couple of the staff at the
Chocolate Bar started up a conversation about it; and I could not for the life of me remember the name for it. I was experiencing one of those, "If you hadn't asked me, I could have told you" moments. I blame the chocolate.
*Slight detour: If you are a fan of chocolate covered oranges or any combination of oranges, orange juice, orange rinds or orange jellies and chocolate; the Chocolate Bar is currently serving some sort of orange sunkist, chocolaty with something crunchy and more orangey goodness ice cream that gave me tingly cheeks and a slight orgasm. It was so rich I couldn't finish it; but SO worth the stares from the guy at the table behind us as I shoveled fist sized bites into my face.
As
Greg would say, "thank you, Goddess" for not giving me brain freeze and for not keeping me up all night thinking about, "why the hell can I not think of the word for the symbol around my neck that I wear almost every day?!" Thankfully, on my way into work this morning the name for that symbol hit me like a bottle of Aderol and suddenly my homeostasis was restored.
I wear an
ouroboros. It looks like this:
but with a black string attached. The snake swallowing its tail is a symbol of life cycles, rejuvenation, the harmony of opposites, renewal and eternity. I bought the ouroboros in a little mountain shop in Denver and have been in love with it since the first day I hung it on my neck.
