Pluggin' Away:

I spent the majority of my weekend painting.  And eating.  But mostly painting, which is a most excellent thing.  It makes me all kinds of happy.  More so that I'm working on a series that I really, really like (and dare say it, might even love).  That's a big deal for me because I kind-of hate everything I've ever painted.  Not really.  But artists are majorly bipolar about their own work.  One minute you're in love with your process, and the next minute you want to burn down your studio.

But I digress.

So this series I'm working on is called, "A House is Not a Home."  And it's about assessing one's priorities: discovering the things that are truly important. And finding that often times, the things that matter the most to us in the end are not the things we initially strive for. The contrasts of a life filled with people instead of things, versus the large house with the unused rooms. The interpretation of "home" as a feeling, rather than a place. Altering one's lifestyle to working toward "home" instead of "house" and the unexpected effects of implementing said altered lifestyle.

It's an idea I've been mulling around for a while.  Thanks to the Work of Art website I launched and the challenges posed by the Bravo T.V. network, I was inspired to finally begin work on this series.  I only have one finished piece so far, along with two nearly finished works.  Even though I've only barely skimmed the surface, I'm already excited about the final collection.  And because I love you all so much, I'm gonna hit you with a sneak peek.

Finished, but not yet titled.

Cropped close-up of a yet to be named work in progress.
