Gosh, this is just so good, you need high, high praise but you've broken my heart again. This story is just brilliantly structured and paced, it all comes together so well.

I love the beginning, and that line - The fight loved out of him, just such a beautiful image. I love how he fights and then he gives in but then seeing that it's only temporary, that he let himself melt into Jack for one night whilst already making plans to tear them apart again in the morning.

I love that tour that he gave Jack so much, how he finally gives Jack everything, shows him his childhood and tells him all the little details. And I love that he included the happy times as well as the sad. It's clear that he wanted to give Jack the whole picture here, show him all that potential that his life had before everything went to shit. He had pretty much the same start as Jack and I think he wanted to show that, show how different the paths they wound up taking were because he believes that that's why they can't be together, why they won't work.

But then the fact that he told Jack about Margo, about his first con, I really didn't expect that. In a way I'm glad he got to tell Jack himself and I think it's important that Jack heard that from Sawyer. And now that he's told Jack himself he's kind of won against Margo because she has no power over him, Jack knows everything. It's such a hollow victory though because he knows that he can't have Jack now, he's wrecked his chances, and he's also wrecked Jack's relationship with his mother, adding to the fact that he took his father away from him all those years ago.

This is a lot for Jack to take in here and I don't blame him for feeling betrayed, not really about what Sawyer did but about the fact that Sawyer didn't tell him sooner and that Sawyer's only telling him now to get rid of him. His relationship with Sawyer really is a strange one, not because of the two of them together but because of all these links, because of what Sawyer constantly has the power to give and take away from Jack with what he knows. Now that it's all out in the open I think it'll be a lot easier for both of them, Sawyer not hiding anything and Jack not having to be scared of being blindsided. Their dynamic was almost like puppet and puppetmaster, not in a way that Sawyer was playing with Jack but in the way that he had the potential to turn Jack's life upside down with a single admission that Sawyer himself really wished wasn't true. Neither one of them liked those roles I don't think so it's good that they can start to move past that now, though I'm guessing trust is going to be a major issue.

I hope all of that made sense, it's really hard to explain what I mean and I don't want to make it sound like I think Sawyer's manipulating Jack because I really don't think he is and I really don't think he wants to. It's just that he inadvertently holds all of these secrets to Jack's life that could so easily break Jack like this one just has. That make any sense?

Okay, I give up on trying to be coherent but this is fantastic stuff and I cannot wait to see how you bring it all back around :) *loves*
