Who: Tsuruya and Itsuki
Where: Itsuki's place
When: After their conversation in Itsuki's journal
What: Wise Tsuruya knows that Itsuki isn't feeling well and comes over to cheer him up.
Why: Nyoro~n
There was a broad grin on her face, as it usually was. She'd had some fun in finding that Live Journal place. To her surprise, several of her friends were already on there, she wondered if mikuru-chan knew about it.
She eyed an apartment complex that she recognized as Koizumi-kun's. He seemed less than okay over the journals so she made it her goal just then as she was ringing the doorbell, to fix this.
Itsuki got up from his chair as he heard the doorbell. He had told Tsuruya-san she could come over if she wanted to, but now he was wondering if that had been such a good idea. Lately, he hadn't been himself at all: no matter how hard he tried to hide his emotions, he had been saying the first thing that came to his head for a while.
'It's too late for that now' he thought, as he went over to the door. He couldn't just tell her to go back if she was here already. And besides, he was slightly bored by himself, with nothing to do but to answer comments. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door. "Hi, Tsuruya-san".
Tsuruya let her smile grow as Koizumi-kun answered the door. "Hii~!" She pronounced. After a moment she looked him over. He DID seem a little off today. That wouldn't do.
That Koizumi-kun brand smile was unnervingly absent from his face. For a moment, her smile dropped some, not completely, but some. She crossed her arms and tilted her head to the side.
"What happened? Hm?"
Itsuki blinked, a bit surprised by her question. "Eh? Nothing happened, Tsuruya-san." He tried to smile, remembering her previous comments. It didn't look as real as the others, but it would have to do. "You mean my arm? It was...an accident at work." Or something along those lines, anyway. "Please, come on in."
There was no fooling Tsuruya-san. He should have known that. She easily saw through his attempted smile, though, it worked for now. She would let it go until she get a little more info out of him ...and got maybe inside, too.
"Okies~" She chimed at him, half mockingly as she guided herself inside. "Did your friends catch that guy you talked about in your Journal?"
"You mean Danny?" Itsuki looked at his cell phone, the same way he had been doing for the last couple of hours, a natural reaction from her question. "I don't think they have. He hasn't been destroying anything, so it's hard to find him." He sat down, making sure he wasn't moving his arm.
"I am a bit worried, though" he continued. "I don't think he's going to calm down anytime soon, and I don't know where his girlfriend is, either".
Taking note of his nervous glances to his phone, Tsuruya glanced back up at him and smiled. "So there really was something blowing up all those buildings!" She laughed a bit at this; it really wasn't a publicity thing after all. Imagine that!
"Have you tended to that?" She said abruptly, pointing to his arm.
Itsuki could have slapped himself. Had he just said that? He knew he wasn't supposed to be revealing such information to people outside of the Organization (even if Tsuruya-san wasn't outside per se). Why was he being so indiscrete lately? "Yes, there was. But hopefully he'll be under control soon."
Her sudden question surprised him. "Er, yes...a bit, I mean, I think it's fine..."
The green haired, second year tsked at him. The way he had stuttered had told her enough. He probably just lazily threw some gauze on it and called it a day. What was it about guys and carelessness anyways?
Not that she had ever grouped Koizumi-kun with that lot, but lately he hadn't been quite himself. She figured maybe the crazy from Brawl had done it! She'd have to do something about that!
"Take me to your bathroom, Koizumi-kun, Nyoro~!" She ordered.
Her command made him blush a bit. "Wha...?" What had happened to his composure, anyway? Usually this kind of situations wouldn't faze him in the least. And why the hell was he blushing? He coughed a bit, trying to act a bit 'cooler', if anything. "I don't really think it will be necessary, Tsuruya-san." His comment was answered with the determined look in her eyes.
Right. He wasn't getting out of this one.
"Is this way..." he finally said, getting up and showing her the way to his small washroom.
Tsuruya's grin from ear to ear returned as she won the argument before it had begun. It was no mystery how she and Haruhi got along so well.
Before she gave him the chance to lead, Tsuruya snatched his NOT burned arm and dragged him off to the bathroom. Once inside her promptly sat him down on the lid of the toilet and started to raid through his medicine cabinet.
"Just hold tight, Nyoro~! Take off your shirt so I can gets to your injury!"
Itsuki almost tripped as he was being dragged in his own house to his own washroom, trying to keep balance. Once again, he felt his face turn red with Tsuruya's command. "Is it really necessary, Tsuruya-san?" he asked, trying not to sound too nervous.
He missed his 'coolness', and he missed being able to deal with normal situations without looking like an idiot.
A sinister laugh that rivaled that of a certain brigade chief came from the smug Tsuruya-san. "Yuppers~! Now! Offs with it!!" She commanded again. The red on his face only fueled her amusement. He was so cute.
She turned back to his medicine cabinet and produced the first aid kit
Itsuki sighed; feeling slightly defeated, and carefully removed his shirt. He had bandages all over his lower arm, which he was careful not to touch. "Tsuruya-san, I really don't think I need more treatment" he tried one more time, completely sure it wasn't going to work.
"I thinks you do." She answered for him as she opened the small first aid kit. It looked as if it had been used a few times in the past. If there was any surprise from Tsuruya, it couldn't be seen.
Bending down next to him, she carefully undid the bandages. "They needs to be changed anyways~" She chimed not looking up. She applied some anti-bacterial to his burn, which looked rather bad.
Itsuki contained a hiss from pain when the cream touched his wound. It still hurted from time to time, but that he could deal with. Touching it? Not so much. In an attempt to distract himself from the pain, he looked at Tsuruya, too busy tending to his wound to notice. In spite of the awkwardness of the situation, he was glad to have her here to distract him from his thoughts, which seemed to be angrier than usual.
After globing enough medicine to cover an elephant on his arm she carefully rebandaged the wound and stood back up. As she did, she caught his gaze that was resting on her. Smiling a bit warmer at him she then asked, "Anything else hurts, Koizumi-kun?"
She knew the arm couldn't be all. He HAD gotten attacked by a ...ghost? Yup, ghost! He didn't have to tell her, but she knew.
"Eh? No, not really. I'm fine, I think" Itsuki stumbled a bit on his answer, as he had been doing every time he was caught by surprise. He got up, his arm completely numb from the medicine. Not that he was going to tell her that.
"Ah, Tsuruya-san, why don't we go back to the living room?" he suggested. "I think we'll be a bit more comfortable there." If not, at least they would have more space between each other.
Tsuruya gazed at him carefully as if scanning for a hint that he was lying to her. Eventually she grinned again and said, "Fines," before putting his medicine back in its respective cabinet and handing him back his shirt.
Leading the way put she turned back to him and asked, "Do you have some cocoa? I can whip some ups, Nyoro~!"
Glad to finally have his shirt back on, Itsuki followed her back to his small living room. "Uhm, cocoa? I'm not sure...I might have some..." he started saying, when he noticed the girl in front of him smiling and going over to the kitchen. "But it's really not necessary, Tsuruya-san! Really!" He followed her, trying to keep her from cooking in his own house.
Tsuruya skipped her way into his kitchen and started to look through his pantry, "Koizumi-kun~ you sit down in the livings room, this'll be juuust a second"
She turned slightly and pointed her finger at him as he came in the door. After finding the cocoa, she went looking for a pan to make it in.
Itsuki tried to protest, but he knew it was a lost cause the moment she pointed back at him: Tsuruya reminded him of Haruhi way too much sometimes. Defeated once again, he went back into his living room, carefully sitting down in the couch.
Having Tsuruya around was making him nervous in a way that it hadn't before. Yeah, it was true he hadn't been alone with her before, but he had never felt this way, in any other moment, either. It was really awkward.
Tsuruya quickly found the small pan and started to boil some milk for the cocoa. She glanced back at the living room, a satisfied smirk as he sat back down to relax. Good. He didn't look in the condition to be up and about.
Once the cocoa was finished she dug around his shelves for a few mugs and filled them up. Carrying them back out to the living room she handed one to Itsuki and sat down near him. "Enjoy, okays? It'll help you feel better!"
Itsuki took the steaming cup from his upperclassmate. "Thank you, Tsuruya-san." He took a sip from the hot chocolate, burning his tongue in the process. "Whoa. This is really hot" He didn't notice how stupid that sounded until he said it, feeling like he could, once again, slap himself.
He put the cup down, letting it cool down. "Uhm, Tsuruya-san" he said, trying to make conversation, "I really appreciate all of this. I mean, you really didn't need to do it, all I wanted was some company" he stopped himself, noticing how ungrateful that sounded. "B-but I really like the cocoa, though! It's nice". Why the hell couldn't he think before he spoke?
"MmHm!" was the answer he got as he took the cup. She didn't contain the giggle as he accidentally burned his tongue. "I just took it off the stove, sillies!"
As he fumbled around with his words and cup, she smiled at him in mild amusement. This Koizumi-kun was certainly far different than the cool, smiling Koizumi-kun she was used to seeing. Maybe this was the way he really was? She had some idea that his smiles were somewhat fake before.
She lifted a finger up and set it on his lip to quiet him down.
Feeling the color (and the heat) rising to his face, Itsuki finally went quiet. He remained that way, feeling extremely nervous as his heart beat faster (because she was invading his personal space. Really, no secret motive). Finally, he couldn't take it anymore, and he looked down to the floor.
Wow, was he getting THAT worked up over her? She was flattered to an extent. The other part of her was a little worried. Koizumi-kun deffinatly wasn't acting himself, she had seen that before, but as he turned his eyes to the ground, she understood how serious it actually was.
She withdrew her finger and sipped at her cocoa, which had cooled some. Giving him a sincere smile she spoke, "I'm sure it’s almost over, whatever it is."
He looked up from the floor and looked at her. He was always surprised to find how much she knew about the situations with Haruhi, and this time it was no exception. It would have been really dumb -he realized- to try and tell her that nothing was going on, so he answered truthfully. "I really hope so. I am really tired of running around". He lay back, actually relaxing for the first time. "Why do you think so?"
She nodded; glad to see he was actually relaxing now. Sipping, she answered his question. "Because, things always work out in the ends. If they didn't the world would end!"
Whether or not she knew the full extent of the meaning behind those words, it was unknown. She simply could have been exaggerating, or been completely serious.
Itsuki looked at her, trying to figure out what she was thinking. He found that he couldn't, that everything behind her warm smile and eyes was a secret. How much did she actually know? He opened his mouth, ready to ask her, and after a second, closed it again. Some things are better left as a secret. "You're right. Let's hope you're right".
"Tsuruya-san" he continued, changing the subject, "would you like to watch some TV?"
Tsuruya nodded to him, amused as he tried to read into her words. She gulped down her cocoa as it was finally cool enough to do so.
"Tv sounds great, Nyoro~!" She still wanted a smile out of him, but she guessed that maybe it could wait.
They watched TV for a couple of hours, a couple of comedies that she had insisted were pretty good. And she must have believe that, Itsuki thought, since every time a "funny" thing happened, Tsuruya-san always started laughing in her usual manner. After a short while, he himself started laughing at the programs, though not as loudly as she was.
Eventually, though, it was time for her to leave.
After the last show they watched, Tsuruya had gotten a call from home. After she'd hung up her cell phone she skipped to the door. She paused before opening it to wait for Itsuki to catch up with her.
"I needs to go before my father gets megassa worried."
Itsuki looked at his watch: It was sort of late. Had the time really gone by so fast? "I see" he answered, standing at the doorway. "Thanks for coming, Tsuruya-san. It was... erh, really nice having you over here". He wasn't lying, he had had a lot of fun with her and, after all these days, finally relaxed. He was sad to see her leave, though.
She grinned at him as he met her at the door. The visit had been a success in her mind. Through the TV she had gotten him to laugh some. Something she thought he needed right then.
When he seemed to look sad at her departure, she thought for a moment and then leaned up, kissing him lightly on the lips. Pulling back she winked and skipped out the door.
At first, Itsuki didn't know how to react: he stood still as a rock for what seemed to be an eternity. It was only after she was out of the door and into the street that he, once again, started blushing furiously and heating up. What had just...? Had she...? Why would she...? All of these questions running through his mind while he carefully touched his lips. Finally, he decided he didn't want to think about it, and slowly made his way back to his bed.
