I guess I shouldn't complain....

Work Rant. Probably boring to most, hence the cut ;)

I've been in the security business for a good 23 years (since 1982) In that time I've been in charge of some exceptionally professional contracts. The job I'm currently in is the best one I've ever had save for the hours. I get to work in an air-conditioned environment, manage 22 guards worth of payroll once a week and ensure other posts have guards supplied to them in a shortage. Its a no-brainer....
Then there is today. Last week the company that I provide security for created an ad that the Muslim community found to be offensive. So they called for extra 24 hour guards. No problem there either...
Today I get a pair of guards that when I arrive, are essentially "Hanging out" on the front steps of the building (In clear view of the security cameras and the clients...who later complained about it).
I politely introduced myself (since they had never met me nor ever been at this site before) and brief them on what their responsibilities are. Including that it isnt so good to be lounging in front of the company cameras. The young lady of the group apparantly took great offense to my briefing and (unbeknownst to me) promptly called her daddy. She apparantly thought that what I had to say was funny and essentially waved it off as nonsense. I was firm, but I wasnt rude.
I decided to call my supervisor and let him know that she wasnt taking me seriously. Unbeknownst to me at the time (again) her "daddy" was the assistant field supervisor and was standing next to my boss. She had called him and said that I had been extremely rude to her.
Her daddy called me back and proceeded to tell me what a model officer shes always been with the company in the (less than) year shes been here. He chewed my ass up one side and down the other. Now, he and I have always gotten along fine through the last six years I've been here.
The worst part is, her daddy is also golfing-buddy and best friend of the guy who runs the whole show for Securitas here in Dallas.
Sooooooooo, I'm fucked by the Nepotism monster again. Because we all know that daddy's little girl can do no wrong.

Oh well......
