Summary: An exhausted team and family are reunited.

The rest of the team resumed their positions as Miriam and Wanda served snacks and tea.  Dumbo grinned, “Ninja, they’re entering the approach pocket.  They’ll land in about ninety minutes.”  Jack, Millie, Loki, and Otter grabbed coats and stood.  Jack took Billy’s arm, “Let’s get to base, son.”  Billy pulled on his jacket and was surprised to find several MI6 cars waiting outside.  He, Jack, Millie, and Loki got in one, and they began their journey to the base.

Later, they stood on the tarmac watching the skies for the jet.  Before they saw it, they heard it, and soon, Billy smiled as he saw the jet approach the runway on a perfect approach vector.  The jet pulled up, and the crews moved the stairs to the jet.  Billy jogged to the bottom of the stairs and waited, holding his breath.  He grinned when he saw Colt carrying Ben and holding Mary’s hand as they made their way down the stairs to him.  When they reached the bottom, Mary broke free of Colt’s grip and ran the last few steps to him, and he scooped her up in his arms, holding her tightly.  “Daddy!  You’re squishing the air out of me!” she exclaimed after a few seconds of hugging him.

He relaxed his hold and looked at her smiling face.  “How are you, little woman?”  She smiled, “Fine!  Can’t wait to tell you about our adventures!”  He kissed her, “Let’s get home first.”  She nodded, and he set her down as Colt joined him.  Ben reached for him, and he took him in his arms, hugging him.  Ben pushed himself up from Billy’s shoulder, “Daddy!  It was great!  Over the North Pole, the compass behaved just like you said and like the teacher said in science class!”  Billy grinned and kissed him, “You OK, little guy?”  Ben nodded, “Yeah!  It was scary at first but fun afterwards!”

Jack walked up to them and said, “OK, you two.  Let Mummy and Daddy have a moment together.  We’ve got some fancy cars here to pick you up.  Want to see?”   Mary smiled and took Jack’s hand, “Sure, Grandpa!  Are they limos?”  Millie offered her hand to Ben, “Almost!  Take a look!”  The twins followed their grandparents, and Billy turned to Colt.  He took her in his arms and held her tightly.  She giggled, “You’re squishing the air out of me, honey.”  He chuckled, relaxed his hold, and looked at her, “You look exhausted, sweetheart.  Feeling OK?”  She nodded, “Just tired.  We didn’t get much sleep.”

Billy buried his face in her shoulder for a moment, squeezing back tears.  Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, he lifted his head and kissed her passionately, a kiss she returned with equal passion.  He smiled at her and looked at the rest of the team surrounding them.  “Thanks, everyone,” he said.  Bear, Hawk, and Cobra grinned, and Cobra said, “We’re not going to let the team’s best cook off that easily.”  The three men clasped Billy’s shoulder as they headed for the waiting cars.

Billy looked at Dorset and grinned, “Thanks!”  Dorset smiled, “Good to see you, too!  Glad to help, Billy.  And we’re getting a little vacation out of it.”  Billy grinned, “You’re staying at our place.  No arguments. And we’ll show you the UK properly.”  Dorset nodded toward the cars, and Malick and Martinez followed him, squeezing Billy’s shoulder as they passed.  Billy stroked Colt’s face; she looked totally exhausted.  He sighed and touched his forehead to hers, “Honey…”  She smiled up at him, “I know…I love you, too, sweetheart.  You led everything beautifully…got us all out alive.”

He grinned, “Thanks, honey.  I love you.”  She grinned, “You look as tired as I feel.”  He smiled, “Yeah…I got a few hours sleep…Uncle Jack’s insistence.”  She smiled, “Me, too…on the plane…Bear’s insistence.”  He sighed, “The twins look well-rested.”  She nodded as they headed for the waiting cars with their arms around each other, “It’ll be a while before we get a decent rest.  They got a great sleep on the plane.”

They got in a car with Jack and the twins, who were already exploring everything they could inside.  Jack said, “OK, you two, time to belt up.”  The twins scrambled to their seats on either side of Jack, and Jack helped them secure their seat belts.  Billy put his arm around Colt, and she leaned against him, closing her eyes and sighing contentedly.

Ben scrunched his face, “You’re not going to do any of that lovey stuff, are you?”  Billy smiled, “You’ll change your tune one day, little man.”  Ben shook his head, “No, I won’t.”

“Neither will I,” Mary said, with an equally disgusted look on her face, “Grown-up kissing looks gross!”

Colt chuckled, “I know we’re home…”  Billy smiled and kissed the top of her head, “Yeah…some things don’t change…at least not yet.”  Colt looked up at him, and he winked at the twins, who covered their eyes, as he kissed her on the lips.  Jack sighed happily at the scene, glad the family was reunited and behaving normally.

They pulled into the farm’s drive to find several MI6 agents waiting with the Director and Gaston.  Gaston smiled at the twins, “I’m just going to quickly check you two over and ask some questions.”  Ben and Mary looked at him warily, and Gaston smiled, “No jabs, I promise.”  “OK,” Mary said, still not convinced.  Gaston took charge of the twins and entered the house.

The Director shook their hands, “Good job keeping your operations below the radar.  As an update, Guangzhou police used the maps you sent well.  They’ve got the entire head Snake family in custody with mountains of evidence on their activities…enough for execution, according to Chinese law. Interpol, the CIA, FBI, MI5, and MI6 are conducting investigations and arresting the family’s branches in Europe, the US, and here.”

Colt asked, “And what about the CIA?  Is Higgins appeased yet?”

The Director shook his head and chuckled, “Not yet.  I told him we would be conducting a lengthy debriefing.  He’s not happy about that, but by the time the ODS team is rested and has a good vacation, he’ll be cooled down.  He’s got his jet back, and I told him you’d be flying them home.”  Billy grinned, “Thank you, sir.  I appreciate it.”   The Director smiled, “Least I could do.  Get some tea and food, Colt.  Jack and I will debrief you afterwards.”

Miriam handed Colt a cup of coffee and plate of food as they entered the house, and Billy and Colt settled on the couch.  She hungrily dug into her plate and quickly finished it off.  Gaston led the twins downstairs and grinned, “They’re fine and well-rested.”  Ben grinned, “And Dr. Gaston kept his promise…no jabs!”  Colt held out her arms, and the twins climbed into her lap and snuggled up against her as Billy put his arm around Colt and smiled at the twins.  After a few minutes, Colt asked, “Hungry?”

Mary nodded, “Yeah.”

Billy said, “Wanda and Miriam have food in the kitchen.  Get something to eat.  Remember what Mummy told you.”  The twins nodded and clambered down from Colt’s lap and ran into the kitchen.

Gaston sat next to Colt, took her pulse, and said, “You’re exhausted.”  She nodded, “Looks like we all are.”  Gaston agreed, “True.  Soon as you both debrief, get a good, long sleep.  When the twins have finished debriefing, Jo and I would like to take the twins over to our place for a couple of days.  Johnny and Shelly haven’t seen them in a while.  And I think it would be good for them and you both to have a little holiday.  Sidney’s on standby if needed.”

Colt looked at him, “John, is that wise?  Wouldn’t it be better for them to have us close now…with all that’s happened?”

“I talked to Sidney about it and questioned the twins.  They seem to be OK psychologically.  They knew you would come for them all along.  And the important thing is that you did.  I told them Billy was leading the rescue effort and wanted to come, but that he felt the best way to bring them back was for him to lead the rescue from here.  When I told them how many people it took to bring them home, they were impressed.”

Colt smiled, “OK, John, if it’s OK with the twins.  What they want comes first.”

John nodded, “You both need to be in good form…that means at least a couple of days of rest for you.  If necessary, I’ll bring them back home, but neither Sidney nor I believe it will be necessary.”

“Ask the twins, John.  If they say they want to go, it’s OK,” Colt said, and Billy nodded his agreement.  John went to the kitchen, and a few minutes later, the twins emerged and ran to them, excited.  “Can we go to Uncle John’s?  Please? Please?” they both exclaimed.

Billy nodded, “OK, but don’t talk about what happened except with John or Delphi in private.”  Colt nodded, “As long as you do what the MI6 agents tell you and use the cover story, it’s OK.  Aunt Jo, Johnny, and Shelly aren’t spies like you are.”

Happily, the twins bounced to their rooms, and everyone could hear them chattering excitedly as they opened drawers and began packing.  Wanda headed for their rooms, saying, “I better make sure they can fit everything in one bag and don’t fill it with toys.”  The Director smiled, “We’ll debrief them when they calm down a bit.  Agents Haines and Miller are specialists in children.”  Colt smiled, “You may find they’ll debrief more like an adult…they really got caught up in the whole thing.”

The Director smiled, “Frankly, I’d be surprised if they don’t debrief like you two.  They’re like smaller versions of you.”  The Director stood, “Get some more food and relax.  We’ll talk to you after the twins leave.”  Fifteen minutes later, the twins emerged with Wanda, and the two agents met them and took them to a sitting room upstairs for debriefing.  Wanda said, “I’m packing and going with them.  Dr. Gaston, whether he admits it or not, could use the help.  And it would be good for them to have a familiar face nearby.”  Billy smiled, “Thanks, Wanda.”
