[no dream effects aren't you lucky]
Space. He knew that's where he was. He was back on the Shinra Rocket No. 26, back up in the one place he had longed for and managed to finally reach. The soft hum of the machinery, and the occasional clicks and buzzes of the console drifted to his ears. As he looked out that small window, a small smile was etched on that otherwise hard face, the thin trails of the smoke from his cigarette slowly rising.
Yes, for some reason, despite the hazards, he was smoking. A feat only capable in a dream he would later guess.
"You shouldn't be smoking," a soft voice chided behind him. "You could set off the alarms."
He only glanced back as he felt the person's hand on his shoulder. Shera stood behind him, her long brown hair put up in that ponytail of hers. "T'ch, I can smoke wherever the hell I want," was all he said before gazing back out the window.
There was a soft sigh before he felt her head against his shoulder, knowing full well she was looking out at the same endless black, starry "sky" before them.
Now they were on the main deck of the
Shera. No longer were they in space, but back on the Planet. The universe was now above them instead of around them, and instead of that small, tiny window, they were looking through high glass windows that spanned from the floor to the ceiling. Though the airship maintained its course to who knew where, there was no one else on the main deck: they were alone.
"Let's go back up there again," Cid said, that small grin looking more like a young boy dreaming again. It faded when he heard Shera giggle next to him, and he looked down at her with a slight scowl. "What?"
With a hand just above her lips, she smiled up at him. "Nothing. Just that you told me that last week. And the week before that. And the week before that." She stopped when she saw his scowl deepen, his arms now crossed over his chest.
"So I can't say it again?" he just grumbled.
As the woman slipped an arm around his, she shook her head. "No. I think it's a great idea. I'd actually be worried if you didn't say it." She smiled. "And I'll make sure your flight will be safe."
Cid didn't move as she drew closer to him, though he did look a lot more uncomfortable than he had been before. He only glanced down at Shera, making a small tisk sound. But he wasn't annoyed. Instead, he pulled his arm out from her grasp and put it around her shoulder.
"Wouldn't want it any other way."
