Am still very tired.
So am working four nights a week, and finally they are the good days, there's some money to be made for a change, and it's not just "babysitting bar stools", as Philly described the slow days at The Irish Bar.
The Irish Bar is gone, and a couple of people have been asking me about it, what state the insides are in, and whether i can get to the agent somehow and have a friendly word. I met the agent once, when he let Philly and I in to collect personal effects. The lock had been changed on a Thursday morning, we found out when the cleaner called Philly (the final manager of the place) because he couldn't get in. We met the agent, he let us in, i collected my things even though my cigarettes had been taken, and then looked around for anything else not nailed down that i could quietly fit in my bag. The agent did let me take two six-packs of paulaner, which was only fair since i had bought it, but i couldn't get after any of the liquor.
As an aside, none of us had anything to do with the one of the patio tables turning up at our house a few weeks later. The upstairs neighbour picked that up one day.
Have had some good times in the last couple of weeks with
whisperer12 and Philly at the new house.
whisperer12 ordered a foreign sports channel that i had seen advertising NRL and AFL, and of course it has the rugby, including the World Cup which started a couple of days ago. Between entertaining, drinking, sleeping and working i have watched most of them despite Philly's blank stares, and incessant talking through the Saffer/Samoa match, but his sacred Eagles went down against the Green Bay packers and he got to wallow in his misery while as a joyous counterpoint Happy and BigG, the Packers fans the Philly invited over, cackled as their underdog cheeseheads kicked the winning goal with seconds to spare.
I lost seven hundred bucks, or more accurately had it stolen while i was at the river, and the suspected thief claims no knowledge of the money and blames it on Philly who also slept at Happys house that night. Despite this claim, he did offer to pay it back "until he got to the bottom of this". This hasn't happened and i am wondering what to do about it. Part of me is being philosophical about it and not worrying and part of me keeps wanting to do some detective work. Marv has repeatedly offered to lend his services and i am of half a mind to take him up on his offer, 1) to get some or all of the money back, and 2) to see if Marv is actually what he claims to be. Marv had poison oak all over his arms from some yand work he was doing at one point and new boss gave him some money to get some ointment, when that brought his arms up even worse - apart from the huge (two and three inch long and half inch wide) pus filled blisters, his entire forearms were so swollen that he looked like popeye the fucking sailor for a while. Since he has recanted the poison oak story and provided a less plausible, but not unlikely story that i have to do some research on, but i am too lazy and *really* don't want to know. It's quite a story.
My flatmates have no complaints about the late night sessions at the house with some of the people that i work with. Philly in particular was quite specific about having no problem with hot blondes sleeping on the couch. A much better view than waking up across from K2. There have been a lot of stories and late night hanging out, when the normal people are sleeping, but i am a vampire and work vampire hours in a vampire industry (sometimes it really does suck), so these things happen.
I am trying to think of what else is happening that i can talk about. The boys ordered internet so i can stop coming to the pub to check my email and maybe even do some online gaming again, at very least being able to read my email on a daily basis is more than enough. I doubt i can afford the time or money for WOW again, but you never know.
GQ got fired, because Greek Mafia Boss saw him taking money at the door so people could jump the queue. Happy got screwed over at Confused by Pontius' coterie, but is soon to be heading up the new look Big Cat because GMB is having it refitted and wants to open a pub bar instead of another club/bar. I sent Philly to suffer Skipper at his new bar - mean of me yes, but he needed the job. At least he has learnt now that *all* the bars on this street are held together with duct tape and stubborn stains and it wasn't just The Irish Bar. Someone else who i won't name right here is in jail which is a shame but he's being grown up and taking it like a man, as in many ways he was riding his luck, it was only a matter of time before something came a-cropper.
I have plenty of new people drifting in and out of my life and surprise returns of old friends after two years - not that long i know but that was when i was birthed naive and confused onto The Street and what are the odds of two of the girls from The'Suck turning up at random again? I miss you all, and you people in and around Dallas who have yet to come see me at work - you know who you are - i am getting on with things as best i can. Perhaps i should have a house warming party some sunny sunday.
My smokes arrived today and i feel like skipping down the street tossing Sampoernas like flowers at passerby.
Have been writing infrequently, and i wish i could do more. I am hoping with internet at home i will be able to get on top of things, because there's a lot of things that have gone on, and my memory isn't what it used to be.
I almost feel settled and, despite everything else, free. Sunday is my Saturday night, Monday and Tuesday my weekend. I want to go to the river again, and people are talking about the beach, Florida, Vegas, and countless other places to me, and i just haven't been able to find the time as yet. I have one last booking for THIS sunday in the form of the wake for the Irish bar, and then i think i am free to do as i choose until i agree to something else i am sure. We shall see.
I have been watching Weeds, Big Love and the new show Californication, which i am finding particularly ... close to the mark, at least very entertaining. Other than that i watch movies, and now RUGBY. Now if i can just find a cricket channel and make the boys sit through a five day test :)
